    SciFi: Feeling Outcast

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by otakootie, Feb 5, 2011.

I have always been an avid reader, but only recently did I begin to take it seriously, spending time not just in libraries, but on forums and other public interest sites for reading/writing. Via this expansion of interest, I've come across a fact I found incredibly startling.

    Everyone. Likes. Scifi.

Now, don't get me wrong, it's not that I have anything against science fiction (I don't often enjoy it, but that doesn't mean I think there's anything explicitly wrong about it), the thing that gets me is that I never expected it, of all things, to be so popular.
Romance, sure. Realistic, sure. Scifi? ...What?

Am I alone in this? Are there others like me out there?

I'm pretty much the same, but these forums are very much dominated by fantasy and scifi loving folks, so I've learnt to be more. . .tactful. . .when discussing what I think of the genres :p
