Okay, I've seen the threads for "Happiest" and "Sadest" but how about sexiest? The idea came to me when I was reading over the "Sadest" thread and thinking about The Tragically Hip. I have a friend who swears their Long Time Running is the hottest song ever, and for a long time I thought she was crazy, but the more I listen to it, the more I think she might be right. And then my personal favourite, before my friend planted the Hip in my brain, was always: I think they're currently tied. Both very hot songs. Anyone else got songs to nominate?
Clear winner for me, if not very sensual. Moreso, I would conjecture, in the feisty sense. Good 'club banger' too. Ah-Woooo! ETA: Found the safe-for-workplace version. Happy Monday.
Damn. That's kind of like Christina Aguilera's Dirty - hard to separate the video from the song, and really, not so much sexy as just - sex! Still - a good addition to the list!
My choice is a little out of left field. It's not sexy in the "lets make the beast with two backs" kind of way. It's sexy in the way the artist manages to convey the sultry, seductive nature of something destructive, something we should know better than to get under the covers with, and yet still there we are, naked, with our junk laying heavy and torpid for all to see.
I can't think of a Stones song that isn't at least a bit sexy... I'm really not sure about the Joni Mitchell, though! I need to listen to it another few times and see if it catches me.
Yeah, perhaps not exactly the note that was being engaged in the intent of this thread. It's a very sexy song to me, but I've had that song in my life for a long, long time. It's meant a lot different things at different points in my life, but they all answer to the idea of attraction to things that aren't good for me.
I definitely like the opening... right up until she starts singing. I may have a bit of an anti-Joni-Mitchell's-voice issue going on. It's just so... Joni. But I'm only on my third listen. It took me about ten until I started catching on to the sexiness of the Hip...
This reminds me of a time when love was new and exciting and fresh as a spring rain. When life was about spending time together without the burden of life's problems getting in the way. When the world shined in each others eyes and the future seemed truly wide open and full of possibilities and that to me is sexy.
That's an important factor, probably - music is so good at evoking a time and place, it's hard to distinguish between the song itself and the memories it produces.
These songs are so sensual and beautiful. They are not overtly sexually charged like the ones I posted earlier, but listening to them is like my headphones are making sweet love to my ears.
I feel like the Springsteen, at least, is way more charged than the Beatles or Steppenwolf--but that may be my personal biases leaching through (Bruce! Bruce! Bruuuuuuuce!) I'm fascinated by the variation so far - so many different approaches to what's surely a pretty universal emotion/situation...
Van Morrison, of course, but also Tom Waits. "Invitation to the Blues" and "Downtown Train" are sexy as hell to me. Also, Richard Thompson's "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," for some reason. Bob Seger's "Night Moves."
I think I'd be better with "Night Moves" if it wasn't Joey Trebiani (spelling approximate) in the damn video! I need to go listen to the others...
In the right context, "sexy" can come from unexpected sources. (I'm not sure what I would actually describe as a sexy song devoid of context. Maybe "For Your Entertainment" by Adam Lambert, or "Long Slow Kisses" by Jeff Bates.)
It's personal, but this: And okay, this as well ...largely because I had such a crush on Justin Currie... great Scottish pop band, Del Amitri...
