not sure it would work to be honest because it is one partner telling his dad about the relationship not working well. Maybe I should leave them as Nate and Socrates most people think one or other of them is a girl unless they have read the whole book:)

How about Christian? I have a male character named Christian, but I know 2 girls and one boy named that in real life, and it seems to work for either gender pretty well.
Danny/Dani would also work, or Riley, as that's commonly used by both males and females. Same with names like Jordan or Jamie.

Remember to keep the names short, it helps with ambiguity.;)

OOOH! I Know what scene you're talking about, it's the one I've read!!

Nat (Could be Nathanial or Natalie/Natalia, just say Nat, short is better) and do you really need to refer to Soc's name? Can you just have the dad call him "Kiddo" or something?

I need names I think to do it. I want to write it as a piece of flash fiction for a competition. I'll change it a lot but the same idea of a Dad talking to his child. I like the idea of people not knowing the sex of the couple. I may reveal it at the end like call Chris and Sam - Christopher and Samuel.

Maybe Sam and Nat to keep the same intial and length as Soc. Yup I do believe we have it Sam and Nat.
