    Back when I sold cars, if a customer asked a question I didn't want to answer, I moved us along with "That reminds me of a story [fill-in-the-blank]".

    Yes! It makes objections like "What's that noise it was making?" go away. It makes it so I didn't have to say:
    "That rhythmic thumping noise? Did you fall asleep while you were driving it?"
    "No..."
    "See? It's a safety feature. People are having that installed now."

    The story didn't have to have anything to do with their objection! Wizard's First Rule. It works in books too. Distraction.
