Six words bring the story nearer.

Only if hyphenated compounds count as one word. Do they? I don’t know.

Only if “six words” was hyphenated.

Why would six-words, in particular, count as only one? I think the joke’s going over my head now.

It’s all one word like ‘merry-go-round’.

Ooh, drama! I like this one. Variation on the theme:

    Finally, he proposed—on Jerry Springer.

The sword rose, then fell, bloodless.

Glad you like it! Although, to be honest, I was actually going for more of a thriller thing. (facepalming as of right now)
He proposed with Jane's buried ring. Is this creepier? But then again, this lost the sister part, so I'm not sure about it. Either way, crafting these stories really makes you appreciate every single word's contribution to the sentence. Invaluable!

No need to facepalm. Yours came through as serious, though I didn't get a thriller vibe. More of a soap opera relationship drama thing, which I then put a silly spin on. Hmm. If we allow one more word, you could do:

He proposed with my dead sister's ring.

Still very minimal, and maybe more what you were going for. What a fun little exercise!
