The Sleepers QA Why’s this a Q&A and not an FAQ? Seeing as how this is the first game, there are no frequently asked questions for it. Oh..ok so what’s the deal? The deal is this: you’re an assassin, you’ll be given targets to kill, you kill them. Interesting….how will I know when I’ve been contacted? I’ll post under the guise of one of the two organizations: Valkyrie Aeronautics (VA) or the Brutus Booth Syndicate (BBS). The network of communication is entirely complex, assuring that assassin will never be able to track the message or payment to the original source. So I can’t contact either organization? Nope. Not unless they (me) want you to. Wait wait, back up here…explain to me the VA and the BBS. Valkyrie Aeronautics is a top-clearance organization that deals in blueprints and prototypes for new attack fighters and sells them to the highest bidder. Their testing facilities are less than humane, often set up shop in Third World Countries and seeing what their stuff can do. The Brutus Booth Syndicate is a mysterious underground organization that is aiming to halt the VA, or so most people think. Their true intentions aren’t entirely clear. Sounds cool…I’ll go check it out. Hey wait, I have to be offered a job? You sure do, VA and BBS aren’t interested in sloppy sleepers. From the start of the game, the big brothers of the organizations will be watching you. Whether it be freelance or with another organization, once you’ve impressed the top dogs enough, they’ll send a contact to you for an initiation job. If you pass the test, you’ll be brought on full time. What if I turn down the job? Then you’ll be killed. Whoa whoa, I can die? Sure can. If you’re idle for too long, fail a job, or go renegade, you’ll be outed and assassinated. I see, so does that mean I can kill other players? You can if the other player says you can, otherwise no. However, at certain times you might find yourself in a situation where you are running a mission counter to another assassin, it is recommended that you communicate with this player to see that a favorable outcome is had by all. And what about the empty "targets" tag? Here is where a player can find out about who their target was and why they needed to be killed. It will be posted after the job. Of course, the player will have to keep this knowledge from their character, as it would be in the character's best interest not know (but if they're a good assassin, they shouldn't care anyways). Alright, well I think I’ll sign up….hey! Where’s the “description” tag for the character? You don’t need one. A good assassin’s description is always changing. Ok..so where's the "age" tag? I forgot to add that one you'll have to do it yourself. Well that's pretty lazy...would you recommend that my weapon be a golden machete? Absolutely not. The VA and BBS won’t want to recruit people who are limited to sharp knives and blunt instruments. Assassins should be covert, and only in extreme cases will an organization send you in to kill a target up close. K, sounds good. I better finish signing up. Alright then, if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them here. Wait one more thing: when does this shoot 'em up start? It'll start either the day after Labor day or the day after that day.
Well done this was an informative Q&A . . . and it made me laugh. I can tell this'll be a great game.
This game looks awesome. So, will we get to chose which one we work for, or is it just whichever one contacts us first?
Nicely done Q&A. I'm going to be away working at a convention over Labor Day Weekend out of state, but I'll be back in town as of evening of the first. I hope that won't be a problem?
This'll start one or two days after Labor day. Additionally, I forgot to add the "age" tag, so everyone please go back and add that (if you haven't already.
Great discussion thread and great Q and A. I just added the age of my character. I can't wait to play.
Tuesday, September 2 is the definite start date for this. I'll make two posts, one for the VA and one for the BBS, that will be along the lines of each organization scouting for talent. After these posts, you should open up with your character doing a hit. After that, the contacts will go out. Until you receive one, just go merrily along your murderous lives.
I don't know if I can start at your time. Tuesday I will be really really swarmed with school work and I will actually be in class. Monday if it's Labor Day weekend and my parents will be home I can't do that either because my parents will want to do stuff for the weekend.
that's ok. I'm just informing yall that the starting posts will be made on tuesday, and that your first post (when you get to it) should look like I already described. If you keep communications with me, you won't have to worry about your character getting capped.
This looks awesome I just read the part about being limited to blunt weapons and being stealthy and stuff and I have a question: If I can get away with slicing people up can I keep the weapons I picked?.....
I suppose....but all of you need to understand that the first assignments you'll be given will need to be done with sniper rifles and the like. There's no infiltration or closed quartered combat til the middle of the game. Just FYI. It's fine if your weapons are that, but hopefully your character is versatile. Additionally, this is a reminder that this game will start on Tuesday, so if you haven't finished filling out your character template, please do so.
