Spam and a note of appreciation.

Signed in this afternoon, and had a spam PM in my box. Figure most people had that as well. That got me to thinking that really, I think that was only the second or third spammer I've seen on this site in the few months that I've been here.

Why do I bring it up? I've been on a few other forums that get attacked by spammers, and spam's everywhere. It just goes to show how active the owner/staff of this site is, and how hard they work. I've have very little database errors when I log in, and for the few problems I have had, the owner's been quick to work it out.

So, I thought I'd just drop a note saying how much I appreciate what you all do on this site and how hard you work to keep it running as cleanly as you do. It's much appreciated.

I too appreciate the sites work in keeping out the spammers. I too got spam in a private message.

 

PM spam may not disappear as quickly, because unless the spammer is foolish enough to spam a moderator, the mods won't know until someone reports it. The mods watch the public forum, but cannot read private messages that aren't in their own mailbox.

And yes, my hat's off to the current mod staff. They are doing a fine job.

 

I'll leave this here, everyone on the modding team enjoys and appreciates the support. It's always nice to read this stuff, so thank you for being a wonderful community to both serve and be a part of.

Is it just one user, or are there multiple users sending out spam PMs?

Yes, I had a spam, too, and I did report it to Daniel yesterday. I don't know if he was the right person to go to, or not. I agree, this site seems incredibly spam-free. That's the first I'd had, and I've been on for over a month now. Whoever IS monitoring is doing a great job.

 

i've never had spam sent to me on the site, that i can remember...

but i heartily applaud our mods and daniel, the founder/owner, for making and keeping this the best-ever writing site...

 

I too have been a member of different forums throughout the years, though not as regularly attentive as I am on this one, and I've found no problem whatsoever, since I've joined, 'sides having trouble logging in, once or twice. The other forums were wrought with problems, from logging in errors, spam, double posts, formatting glitches, blah blah blah--the list goes on. I commend those at work for their diligence and care.

 

I also had a spam PM waiting for me today, and see that the sender has already been banned. It was the first I'd recieved while being a member here. Excellent work, dudes.

My only sadness with you being a moderator is that you don't partake in the forums as much anymore.
