Going on about 5 months here, I can't believe I used to have such a ridiculous habit. Although reading about "so and so lazied by the fire, the embers of his pipeweed illuminating his face" makes me want to take up pipe smoking. Congratulations and keep at it. Toothpicks can't hurt if you really need to chew on something.
Yes tooth[picks are great. I often bite one in half and chew on the half for an hour or two. They're great help. Oh and cograts on 5 months man. Well done!
To Speedy: Do not open until March 11th! Spoiler Congratulations. It's your 10 day anniversary! (Yes, I'm a bit silly.)
Damm. What can it be that i have to wait to open it. *looks at clock* Seven and a half hours.... Not clicking that is harder then what i'm giving up!
Speedy, I just want to say good luck and well done. I am, sorry.... I was a smoker. I quit a while back, but ended up smoking again. Now I have quit again and this time, I won't be picking the habit back up. I've great motivation not to! So for me, it has now been 2 days since I last had a cigarette and I am feeling really good for it. I want one, I want one badly, but I haven't caved in as yet and trying very hard not to as well. So well done to you Speedy on 8 days. I am proud and you should be too. Another good thing is carrot sticks or celery sticks. It sounds daft, but it does work. It is how I was able to quit for 1 year and not once fall back till I was rather drunk and foolish... sigh! But I am going to try the carrot and celery sticks again myself. I'd rather have either of them hanging out my mouth than a cigarette anyway. At least the veg is good for me!
Just one thing - do NOT try to light up the veggie sticks. Not only does it look and smell awful, it's truly sad.
I'm very glad i have no money on me right now because i'm so stressed about something else that a smoke would be the best thingi n thw world right now.. Very very stressed. I hate having to wait on things when your stressed. Hopefully the "issue" will be settled tonight.... but gooddd darn! Edit - actually, i think i'll be okay. I just took a few deep breaths. I'll be okay. I hope.
You're doing great Speedy and I'm sure everything will be ok I know this quote and I think it's both slightly funny and true "everythign willl end up all right in the end, if it's not alright it's not the end" maybe that helped?
Finding other outlets for stress is crucial to quitting. Otherwise, every time you feel stressed, and stress is inevitable, you will be sorely tested.
two weeks down, ten left! Passed a major hurdle this weekend. Had a HUGE party and got off my face. I went the distnce and am still smoke free for two week. I don't know how i did it. But i did.
Doing well. I can't say i've written much new stuff. But i've been editing my old material which i've been atdding a lot too. Going to be a good week. I'm feeling really well today
Have to admit. Been a slow two weeks! Felt like twenty years . Okay, maybe not twenty, more like ninteen.
*does a happy dance for Speedy* Congratz man! You're AWESOME! You are doing IT! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Seriously though, you are doing a wonderful thing, even though at times you feel sh*ty about it. Good luck. We are WAY proud of you man!
I dodged an A-Bomb tonight. After the football with my mates the misses picked me up. FOr some reason she was annoying my like never belief (yet doing nothing). I got home and i was just angry and annoyed and frustrated and i snapped. I yelled at her and told her to give me one of her smokes (Using the F words all over the place). She never gave me any and i couldnt find them If i had, id have had one, i was that angry, I may have had the whole packet I dodged a ****ing bullet big time.
I almost wanted to punch holes through walls and/or peoples heads. Whoever was in the way... ALmost, not quiet.
Well done, its always easier with the help of others. You could have smoked a pack, but you didn't, congrats to you both.
Keep going pal, it's worth it. I've been stopped 6yrs this September 18th and have never felt healthier or energetic.
A cold shower did the trick though..... god bless those cold shpowers. They do wonders Well done! I'll probably get hit by a bus now though, after quitting.
If so, you'll still stand a better chance of surviving surgery and anaesthesia with your improved blood oxygen content.
Do you see Speedy, there's a silver lining to every cloud. As you're lay there with no legs at least you know you'll survive.
