Wot wud we do if tumorow we found out that a nu ukademy had bin formd for the expres perpos of reforming the way we spel the Inglish languaj. Wot if evry web paij we went to, and evry file we opend sudenly konvrted itself ovr to the nu format? Wud we adapt? How long wud it taik us to reed thru our posts? How long wud it taik us to post uh post?! Wot ar yor thots on the matr.... *This is just meant to be a fun little thought exercise. If it turns into an international smack-down I will ask Cog to delete the thread.
This hurts me to read. Like physically hurts. I think it would be easier to figure out how to read stuff than it would be to figure out the new way to spell stuff...but then, a lot of people can't spell that well anyway, so would it even matter if you couldn't get the hang of the new way of spelling things?
I'm pretty sure we'd adapt. After the initial confusion of thinking you were actually illiterate I managed to read your posts easily enough in not much more time than I normally read. This is qitue ieentsrntig tuhogh - apaprtnely if you sticwh aornud the ltetres of a wrod (elcxdunig the fisrt and lsat) it's jsut as esay to raed. So say rrchesaeers at Ofxrod aynohw. Although I'm not sure it works well when you put lots of vowels together.
OOWWW MY BRAAAAIN HURTTSSS I'd be stubborn, and keep spelling this way despite the changes. Eventually, the world would see sense In my supreme ways....
Wrey, you have stabbed my heart a thousand times over. I dun no wot wud hppn, onistly. eyed prabobblee dy.
The post don't hurt my head to decipher. Cause when I was learning English for the first time...I spelled a lot of words wrong like that.
I don't think it's very hard to read, but I can imagine it would take a bit more thought to think about how to spell things. As for reading, it's mostly phonetic, right? So it's not that bad, I think we'd adapt and I'd be fine as long as people don't start talking like that. XD
You know how sometimes in movies and TV shows, when some silly nit wit starts speaking painfully slow, loud and over-pronounced English to a non-English speaking person with the expectation that they'll be able to understand better? That's how I read all the posts with teh funneh spellings.
