@Keitsumah I don't understand your most recent post. It doesn't make sense. If Wilders are in constant hiding why would there be some underground fight club going on? I'm not bashing your writing itself or anything but I don't see how an underground territory war between Wilders would go unnoticed.
I'm agreeing with @slurpy_NinJa on this one. You are again showing that you are super powerful and no one can beat you. You have complete power over your abilities where it says in the intro that Wilders don't have that much control over their powers without serious consequences. We're not trying to be picky, we're just trying to figure out what level we want this RP to be.
My understanding was that all Wilders can sense each other, and it seemed like they would be so afraid of official notice that they would try to keep each other from drawing attention; like when segregationists would beat up a black person because some other black person drank from White Only water fountains, they were conditioning the black people to beat each other up for drinking from the "wrong" fountains rather than defending each other.
What exactly would non-mind Wilders be? Wilders are psychics without control over their psychic abilities.
Disregard. When I wrote that the first time, I hadn't read "Head Wilder" as "Wilder in Charge," so I thought there was more of a distinction between those that focused their mental energies into primarily mental effects (telepathy...) vs. primarily physical effects (pyrokinesis...).
I see. You made me wonder though, have you been reading this game? I ask because as far as I am aware you are not participating in it... Naturally, you don't have to but I've rarely seen people just read games, makes me feel a tad proud on the inside, knowing that someone has read it...if that's the case
I truly feel honored, and I am sure the others are as well. Either way, you should consider joining, if you want to. If you really have no clue on how to start, I'd be happy to walk you through it
I haven't but I am pretty sure he'll be here within a day or so. I guess we should deploy our Wilder and Psyon skills to track him down if he doesn't come back anytime soon.
Well, Matt found out he's a Wilder, Nina and Jansen are having late-night Japanese food, Ty and Bishop have tracking chips in their necks and Keit is well... um... flying through the night sky, dematerializing atoms and fighting other super-powered, ego-tripping Wilders in some crazy underground Wilder fight club.
Oh my! Well that seems...unlikely. I suppose that's what I get when I vanish for days at a time though.
Okay well I read the post that everyone seem to be in kind of a tiff over and I suppose I need to make some sort of ruling for the sake of the game's enjoyment and to clarify some things in regards to Psyons and Wilders. So we can avoid any unpleasantness going forward. Firstly, Psyons and Wilders are both an extreme minority within the human population. For instance, the Directorate military's Psyon division is populated by only a mere twenty or so Psyons, with only five or so of these being rated at a three. Those rated at a three are very powerful, highly trained military commandos capable of performing mind boggling feats of psychic wizardry. Again, psychic power on this scale is extremely rare. Most of the Psyons are sitting at ratings of two or one. Those with a rating of two are able to do things that we in modern times have come to associate with psychic powers. i.e. moving objects from a distance, communicate telepathically etc etc. Those with a rating of one, by far the most common, might only be able to do as little as read thoughts or slightly influence another person's thinking. Remember, even for those with a rating of one it takes years of very harsh training and conditioning to be able to do these things on anything resembling a consistent basis. Wilders, on the other hand, receive no such training. They are emotionally unstable. This is the reason why Psyon training often places a heavy emphasis on the management or even total burning out of one's capacity for normal emotion. Due to their heightened senses, Wilders experience emotions to a greater depth than those without psychic powers. This means that when they get sad or angry, they either enter a heart wrenching existential crisis or become consumed with a terrifying rage. They often even fluctuate wildly between these two. Think manic depressive but waaaaaay more intense. They are viewed as a danger because the slightest thing has the tendency to set them off. This is why most Wilders will not survive adolescence. They either kill themselves in one of their emotional fits or end up being killed by those around them. Those Wilders that avoid death do so by focusing on one aspect of their psychic ability, usually the first thing they find out they can do. So the Wilder that discovers he/she is psychic by accidentally manipulating fire will usually focus on only manipulating fire. Having received none of the training a Psyon gets, most Wilders may never learn even the relatively simplistic tasks of telepathy or kinetics. So that sort of puts things like full on flight our of their realm of expertise. That being said, I understand that there may be powerful Wilders in the universe but they would certainly be the exception, not the rule. Even assuming the existence of such powerful beings, there would almost certainly have to a tremendous backlash from this untrained use of power equal in proportion to the strength of the power used. Even Psyons, with all their training, are not exempt from this. For instance, a dire situation might call on a powerful rating three Psyon to do something like stop a car from crashing into him/her. While a powerful Psyon might be able to do this, they would actually be bearing taking the brunt of the physical damage in the form of psychic energy. This could result in something as serious as brain hemorrhaging and maybe even brain death. While they do have some super human powers, psychics are exempt from other normal human limitations. A bullet will still pierce them. A knife will still cut them. Being slammed into a ceiling panel on the Zodiac station would probably kill them. Psychics aren't the X-men. Their power works in a much more subtle way, as subtle as a thought can be. I hope this helps clear up some issues regarding these types of characters and if any of you can think of any other subjects that need more clarification I would be more than happy to elaborate on any topic.
@Darkthought in your explanation above you reversed type one and three. Last time I checked type one was the rarest and type three the most common...
You are right Mac haha. I was pretty tired when I wrote that. I literally had just got back in to town and walked in the door.
