Why does this happen? You post a status update, it appears, but then as soon as you refresh or navigate to a thread etc, it disappears.
Do you mean they disappear entirely, or that they don't show on the main page right away? It takes a bit for the main page to update, same thing if you make a blog entry.
I mean it shows up in the little widget thing on the main page when you first hit 'Post', but then after a refresh it's gone. It's still there if you click through to the 'Recent Status Updates' page itself, but gone from the little widget window on the main page.
It does seem to be stuck, I created a status when I first answered this, but it hasn't appeared yet. Time for the @Komposten sign! The front page, lower right-most widget "Status Updates" seems stuck.
i think its because the little widget thing shows new posts so as soon as you refresh its not new because you've already seen it... same for new forum posts, and new blogs
If I were to make a guess at what's going on here: Why does the status message appear in the widget before you refresh? It's added to the widget client-side (i.e. in your browser) immediately when you post it. Why does it disappear when you refresh? The widget only updates its content every X units of time. When you refresh, your browser requests the content of the widget and gets a reply that contains only the posts since the last update. Thus, unless an update has happened after you posted your status message it will not appear. Disclaimer: This is just a guess based on the fact that the statuses appear eventually. I cannot verify it without knowing which plug-in is used for the widget (if one is used).
Another observation: I made two status updates from my dummy account for testing earlier. Now, about one hour later, only the second message is visible in the sidebar widget which makes me thing that it also filters the content to only show one post per user.
