She lead the way through the early morning streets, her back ached painfully but she wouldn’t dare show that. Her staff was held tightly in her hand, helping her every forced step. She stopped suddenly at the sound of soldiers footsteps, and she looked at the time on her wristwatch. They still had time. She slunked behind a garbage can, holding him with her as the soldiers walked right by. They quickly made way for the bookstore. She knocked on the door diligently, trying not to make too much noise.
Ares opens the door, and welcomes back the siren and mr. Anarchy. "So, you return. You two don't look like you're in good condition. Please, come in and sit. I'm sure the Allen won't mind you resting in his book store. Oh, and ignore the soldier sitting in the corner. She's harmless."
Her eyes hit the soldier, and she almost let out a scream as she took to her side. She kneeled down, her back screaming as she did so. She looked at her sisters sleeping figure with both anger, but longing. She hadn’t talked to her in quite a while, it had been years since they trained together. “Tenee.” She said, poking her, “Do you remember me yet love?” The soldier's eyes twitched as she shot Tatee an angry glance. "City scum, all in this place. Wait until the Devil learns of this." She hissed at her, and then stood up, her knees crackling. She shot her sister an angry glance, but bit her lip before she said anything else. She crawled to the side, and looked at Ares. “Who’s side is she on exactly?” she sighed, “What do you plan on doing with her? Just shoot her in the head! Put her out of her misery. She can’t even remember her own sister…” she sighed, knowing she wouldn’t let them do it, even if she wasn’t who she was.
Allan looked at the other two. "I'll go get the first aid kit," Allan said. Allan went to get a first aid kit when the back door of the boiler room. Busted open. Suddenly a canister of poison gas was throw into the bookstore. "We are going to get you out Tranquilizer ma'am," said some soldiers. A small spark ignited and a fire started.
Tantalizer gave it a proud grin as noticed the fire, her agility incomparable as she doged past the flames and towards the door. "I knew I would be called back." She said vainly, and then looked in Ares'es direction. "You civilians should learn your place." She plunged forward to arrest him, but her liuetenant said: "The plans have changed, ma'am. Orders from the Devil." Tantalizer raised an eyebrow and smiled. His name made her happy, or at l;east she thought so. "Fair enough, let's leave them to die in their ashes." She jumped over to the door, and the soldiers escorted her to a war tanker. Feeling prouder than ever before, she got in the front and the tanker sped off.
Ares lets out a small laugh, as the fire dances around him. "She'll return to me soon enough." He yells towards the direction that Allen went "Fire doesn't harm me, but I guess that the rest of you aren't as lucky. Do you have something to put it out by chance?"
Allan went into the hazard smoke and flames. He needed to recover something before it was burned. The original copy of the book Flower's Dance. "I have a hose in the kitchen the hose is generally used for cleaning out my dough drums!" Allan said. Truth was the drums were used only when the whole family existed, but since the whole family didn't exist there was no need for the drums to be used. Allan held his breath and searched for the book. That was the only book they needed to save themselves from a world like this.
Devil had been waiting for this time for a while. He fidgeted with the locket, feeling his patience being tested. "She's here, sir." "Good, bring her in and close the courtroom. No one should be allowed in." The soldier was lost in shock for a split second. The courtroom was never fully closed, unless...unmentionable things were about to happen. "May I repeat myself?" Devil growled, at which the spellbound soldier apologetically bowed and ran off. "Urchin?" He called to another soldier as soon as the former left. "Behead him in another two minutes, three seconds." The soldier nodded and walked out of the courtroom. The courtroom was emptied, and a woman walked in. The gate slammed shut behind her, and she smiled conceitedly. "I waited, and it bore fruit." Tantalizer hummed as she walked to Devil who calmly stood by his Venus Flytrap. "Your waiting has ended forever, Tantalizer. You have accomplished much." He replied, at which her eyes were inundated with tears. "R-really?! Is it...is it what I'm thinking?" Devil nodded and walked towards Tantalizer who was smiling with tears running down her cheeks. "It is, Tantalizer. You have proven that love is a powerful thing." He then grabbed her right hand softly, looking into her beautiful eyes. "Too strong. Something too strong can be a threat to law and order. And therefore...you must understand what I am doing is for your best." He bent her hand aggressively, and her bones split open. She yelped, as he cackled and then pushed her to the floor. "I am only doing what is best for us, Tantalizer. You will appreciate what I'm doing." Tantalizer felt the backbreaking pain in her body, as though clamped against hot iron. She sobbed as he walked towards her and then grabbed her by her wrists. Her heart thumped as a sadistic smile came on his face. "But love...can also be used to our advantage." He whispered in her ear, and she yelled. A slap came across her face, and she pressed her eyes close.
She didn’t know what to do as the heat from the flames hit her face. She was never good when it came to certain things, and fire would be one. She fell back, falling into Jack’s chest. She grabbed for him frantically ignoring her will to run. "I have a hose in the kitchen the hose—“ she didn’t stick around to hear more, as she made a dash for the kitchen. The flames bit at her like a dog at a fence, and she slid into the kitchen, her heart pounding. Her hands aimed for the hose, and she wrapped her gloved hands around it tightly and turned the nozzle on. The water came out quickly, dripping at first over the cloth on her arms, and then it finally came out in a torrent of splashes. She aimed at the fire, and came from the kitchen. It didn’t go too far, but was far enough for the job as the flames slowly died out. Her hands trembled as she let the hose fall to the ground, it squirmed without a master. She ran, turning the water off. Her eyes were wide as she stared at the others. Her arms throbbed, burnt in various areas, but otherwise she was fine.
Ares continues to sit on the couch, that he managed to keep the fire away from and says "Don't worry about your sister. By now, its only a matter of time before she betrays Devil, and joins us." He turns towards Allen and says "Considering all that has happened, we should consider holding the 'book club' somewhere else."
"Is everyone all right?" Allan asked. Allan had the book in his arms. Allan smiled at Ares suggestion. "There is a place we can hold the book club and its right here," Allan said. Allan trusted them enough. He pulled back one of the antique rugs and there was a fireproof trapdoor. "In there is another bookstore, the undergrund bookstore of secrets," Allan said, "It was built when my grandfather was trying to overrule people voting for Diablo." Allan smiled at his grandfather's wickedness. "I will need someone to open it though...since even if its fire proof it steal absorbs heat," Allan looked at Ares, "If a man creates a kingdom, then he must surely realize that once a kingdom is built it shall be broken down."
Ares grins and says "Every nation is destined to eventually fall, and give rise to new ones. Its simply the way our world works." Ares stands and walks over to the trap door. He grabs it and opens it up. Ares looks back up at Allen and says "After you."
She looked at Ares angrily, but said nothing as she sat on the floor near Jake. Her hands twisted around on her staff irritably. What did he mean by that? Her sister would never do that, and she didn’t want to be the one to see it. She paused and looked up at them with a faint smile, barely listening to what was going on, but the words caught her attention either way. “I’m not getting what you’re going at.” She muttered, “But, whatever it means…” she pulled the guns from her satchel and put them at her feet, followed quickly by her throwing knives. She quickly attached the knives to her belt.
Allan walks down a spiral staircase and turns on the light. Truth is that he had never been down here in his life. This is where his grandfather played his secret poker games when Allan was a child, this is where his grandfather locked himself and wrote and read, and this is where his grandfather started a rebellion. He turned on the lights to see heaven. Antique bookshelves, over three thousand books. A few tables, a refrigerator, and whole bunch of papers and ideas. On the fireplace mantle was a picture of the first rebellion group his grandfather and a whole bunch of his friends. His grandfather disappeared after Diablo became rule. Allan blames Diablo. "Well this is it," Allan said, "Our bookstore was built right on top of an older bookstore...funny thing is that the bookstore that our bookstore built over is actually from the same place....seems like Poe's ancestors built a bookstore in the same location." Then Allan smiled. "They built it when they were fighting a civil war and rebellion against a government,"
Tantalizer shivered as she tried to roll herself into a fetal position. "Dearest, don't be shy. You talk about love so often, it sickens me. I thought I'd show you my way of love." He laughed as he hurled his hands towards her body. She breathed in, feeling a haunting quiver inside of her. "Enough of old techniques. I'll devise a new one." He groaned and got off the bed, wearing his clothes. Tantalizer groaned, looking to her left. She didn't want to feel herself alive anymore. As soon as he was done, she knelt down with her bruised hands to grab her own clothes, when he slapped her hands off. "What do you think you're doing? I'm not done showing love." Tantalizer blinked dubiously as he pulled her up and dragged her out of the room. She pulled her stomach in as he pushed her out of the room, and towards the courtroom. "What are doing!" She yelled to the Devil as she felt exposed to thousands of dead bodies in his court. He laughed, and then announced: "Courtiers!" Tantalizer whined in horror as millions of soldiers entered the hall. Their eyes showed no emotion, until they saw her. "Witness your Queen!" The Devil said and then cackled, his voice filling the room. Tantalizer saw the lechery in the soldiers' eyes, and felt her heart boiling. She hatefully looked towards her insane Master and then grunted. Rage dived in as she sped towards him in the blink of an eye and struck his private parts. He bawled, losing his focus for a second. It was enough for Tantalizer to grab a paralytic gun and shoot him. The army advanced towards the naked warrior, who grinned. She knew every inch of Devil's castle, and had nothing to worry about. Her speed aided her as she went down into the basement, and then towards the secret escape door. Being naked aided her - the metal sensors did not detect her. "That Devil will pay." She vowed in her heart as she sat by the sewers, hopeless.
She followed them down the steps, her eyes taking it all in. The smile came over her face pretty suddenly, as she held the guns tightly in her hands. There was almost a skip in her step from the happiness. All of this wasn’t in vain. All the loneliness she had dealt with, the loss of her sister and finally the approval of her master. She stopped at the end of the stairs and looked down in awe. This was what her mission had redeemed. “This… is pretty cool.” She muttered.
Ares looks around at the dust covered books. There are books on just about every major resistance leader in history, as well books on philosophers that spoke of freedom and individuality. Ares smiles and says "Your grandfather must have been a very honorable man."
Allan looked at Ares and smiled. "He was only an honorable man in my household," Allan paused, "Those men in the picture they were suppose to be my grandfather's army...they sold him out and he disappeared...I'm not sure if he is dead or not dead...he never said in his book Flower's Dance....my grandfather could tell the future." Allan looked at the dust covered books. "Well we'll need to clean this baby out won't we," Allan said.
She slid her armwarmers off first, the cloth against the new burns were remotely painful, but she ignored it and sent the feeling aside, sliding the armwarmers into her satchel. Next came her gloves, a lot damper then the armwarmers. She nodded her head, and grabbed a cloth from her satchel and began to dust the room, humming a light tune to calm all minds. She enjoyed her abilities sometimes, after all.
"I'll be upstairs for a while...my grandfather had saved some special books and I hope they didn't get harmed in the fire," Allan said, "They are very important." Allan walked up stairs and found the area. It was just a piece of wood that you could move out of the way. He took out two leather bound books and came back downstairs. "They aren't badly ruined, which is good,"
The cloth went up and down, loosely swinging over the various orifices of the old bookstore. She sneezed and coughed as she went around, almost feeling like her work wasn’t going to help her very much. She sighed and quickly stopped as she took a look at the books in his hands. They looked pretty old. She walked over, handing him another cloth from her satchel. “For dusting… or something.” She said, “Anything else I can help with?”
Allan smiled everyone was working so hard. Allan went to pick up a piece of paper, but nearly slipped. He touched the girls shoulder, why did he have to do that. Then an image came inside his head, a horrible image something he didn't want to see. "Now Tranquilizer sister don't ruin my kingdom with Diablo," said a wicked and cruel voice, "Oh, how I love my Diablo." A wicked cackle. The image of the sweet girl Jack had fallen in love with was interrupted with a woman of wild hair and a leather robe. She had a ring with insignia of Diablo. The images flash a little and you see the same woman much younger. "I love you Diablo," "Love do you think I love...." Tranquilizer was watching in the corner of the room. The much younger woman gave a wicked smile and she walked up towards Diablo and slapped him. Then cut him with her long nails. The image flashed again a young boy locked up. "Shut up you worthless son," the wicked lady said. She let out a siren shriek making the boys ears bleed. "You're the queen of this.......your the one loving Diablo and.........."Allan didn't know if he had finished his sentence or if the darkness had succumb to him first.
She pulled away as he fell to the ground, his words were ringing in her head as she backed up. She looked from Jake back to Ares, until she hit the bottom step. Her heart hammered, but she set the panic back and caught her composure, holding the gun and one of her knives tightly in her hands. “What… the hell is he talking about?” she stammered, “Somethings wrong with our leader you guys.” She tried to sell it with a laugh.
