Submission for flash fiction contest with prologue of WIP?

Discussion in 'Marketing' started by Lifeline, Jan 10, 2016.

    Hiya,

I was wondering. I have written a prologue for my WIP (which is not really needed there but it is a nice touch) which would fit the criteria for submission to a flash-fiction contest.
Now if it gets accepted (and I doubt that) and subsequently gets published, would a publishing house then hesitate to take my WIP (assuming that I find a taker)?

I think so but I would like your opinions on that. Thanks in advance!

    I wouldn't take the risk.

I can't see it being a problem. I know many people who have published books after having published extracts in magazines and journals. If anything, it helped them market their book when it was finally published.
