I'm pretty new to this forum. When filling out my profile I noticed that the religion section had the 3 options for Christian as Catholic, Protestant, or Other. I put Other because I'm an Eastern Orthodox Christian and I didn't want to put "Catholic" because I'm afraid people would confuse me as a Roman Catholic. I feel like "Christian - Orthodox" should be an option. After all, there are 300+ million of us in the world and we have a very long, rich history. I also feel like "Christian - Other" lobs me in with Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons who may also put that as their religion in their profile.
I say we get rid of this option altogether. Discussing writing doesn't have anything to do with religion at all.
Good point. I added it. I'm not sure how I overlooked it. thirdwind, it's an optional field, it can always be left blank. I think it's nice to have a little info like religious or political views, it can help with getting to know one another or with knowing if you're talking to a link-minded individual.
But there is also an About Me free-form field. That should suffice, especially on a site where all the members are presumed to have an interest in writing!
