Well yes, I know I am late on this announcement, but summer is here. I find it ironic, that once summer hit, and me and my pal's are making plans, I actually have less time to spend on here than when I had school, despite my AP classes. Maybe that's just me though. Anyhow, summer is indeed here, and I have to get a job among other things. I am working on a summer goal list, not sure if any of you guys did that when you were in high school? I did finish one thing on my list. I completed "The Legend of Luke" by Brian Jacques. A very good book indeed like most of his work. However now that I think about it, this is only one step to completing something on my list, considering it says and I quote "Read all of the Redwall series." Hm... might take a bit, although it only took me 1 week to read "The Legend of Luke"... I don't know, might be a bit of a feat. I do love to read though. Anyhow! The point of this thread, since I can't just make it to say "hey, just thought I'd tell you all about my life". So! Here is the point: I got to thinking, and I wondered if any of you guys had summer goal lists, either in high school or at this moment. If so, would you mind disclosing some of your goals? AND! On top of that, what are you planning for your summer? Work? Finding work? Quitting work? What? Just talk about your summer as you envision it now! PS: This is also to make sure people know I have not suddenly died... Thanks! ~TY
What a treat it was when I could divide the year with that golden time that always presents in old school Star Trek soft focus. Yes, summer. Right now summer for me means the rainy season. It has rained for a week with stopping once, not even for a minute. Such is the glory of summer in the tropics. Although the locals feel that there are changes of weather, the five degree difference between "winter" and summer is negligible to me. Soon come the hurricanes and all the fun they they bring. Wee!
During the summer I'm going to take a summer band program, do some marching band for July 4th, and maybe take Judo classes. Some of my goals are.... 1. Improve my Tagalog. 2. Improve my guitar. 3. Up my reputation on the forums. 4. Write write write!
"Mommy, Mommy, I don't like running in circles!" "Shutup, or I'll nail your other foot to the floor."
"Mommy, Mommy, I don't want to visit Grandma!" "Shut up and keep digging." How did you know those were some of my favourite jokes? This summer, man, I graduated, so I guess this means I have to add, "Get a life." to my list of things I must do; probably right under all of my "Get vengence on so and so" entries. So a job, a car, a definite plan for school and hopefully some sort of crazy roadtrip with a few friends are all must-do's now that I have all this time. Also, I'm debating looking up some surgeons and getting a consult to see what can be done with my eyes but I guess that isn't very summer-dependant.
Well awesome guys! Didn't quite expect this much of a response. But! Since I did, I am happy, I wish you all luck with your plans!
I plan on: 1) Finishing my summer reading list (full list in my blog) 2) Buying the rest of the Beatles' albums (only 6 more) 3) Going to Madison with my best friend to visit my aunt and have fun.
Here's my plan for the summer: > Get on a normal routine for getting in better physical condition > finish summer work for my classes (a little scary) > work part-time, even though that means doing inventory on a thousand pointless objects > finish my current writing project > hang out as much as I can with my friends post-camp > pray a hurricane doesn't come along and destroy my town
I hope it rains soon so that it puts a dampner on my hayfever. Pollen is my eternal adversary which I can never defeat.
I also have a lot of yarn lying around the house, so I'm trying to knit it all into something and then donate my knittings to Goodwill.
> Read a few more books > Improve on the guitar > Write short story that I've had in my head since march. > Spend time with Girlfriend > Listern to a few more CDs/Operas. (Yes, I enjoy opera, shoot me) For me summer is the worst part of the year. I don't like heat very much, and I have hay fever, so Summer for me is the unhappy time before Autumn comes along.
I'm aiming for about page 30 on my book and to get as many short stories, poems and songs on here as I can, as well as posts to the other sections. I'd like to improve my basketball skills and to basically hang around with my mates for as long as possible. I'm visitng France for three weeks, which should be good and on the last three days of the Summer Holidays, I'm going to Leeds Festival, which has a great line up this year.
Ah, if only summer were as simple as it used to be in high school. I've got a couple things on that invisible floating list, one even has to do with this website, shocker there! 1. Get good grades in my summer classes and try to be there for all of them. I've been having trouble with attendance in the past, so hopefully the shorter classes will force me to start working. I'm taking the history of English Literature from Beowulf to the Reformation, that class is almost over but it's been terribly fun for me. I still have to get an eight page paper written. That darn old theory just keeps pulling on my string. Along with taking a regular English class and cultural anthropology I'm booked. 2. Try and get a job. I'm just hoping to past the first part of the Borders Job Fair interview. Eegads, can't even imagine what they are thinking of taking two weeks to go through resumes. Can't buy birthday presents with no money, and I can't pay for gas either. The prices keep inflating when I'm not looking! Instead of forty dollars, it now takes forty five to fill up my poor ol' Thunderbird. 3. Try to post a sort of literature on the website a minimum of once a month. This is not including contests that I'm interested in. Work assignments I feel like randomly posting on the website, or any other strange phenomena like posting reviews on other people's work. 4. Posting art on my art account. 5. Paying for a new charger for my laptop. Also, getting some eletrical tape until then. It's sixty-five dollars with shipping and handling. To go to the store it's 100 dollars. Dash it all! I talk to much, in fact, I should get to bed. I have a busy summer day tomorrow. Have a better summer than me ^-^ ~ Jane Beryl
Ah, summer. Let's see... I got a whole bunch of books I want to read, a lot of studying I have to do. I'd like to go to Spain too, but I haven't decided anything on that yet. Want to go biking more, do more exercising- oh, and hang out with my friend. I guess there are other stuff on my list, but I can't think of anything at the moment.
