Misven suddenly got angry, she frowned at Lebry and horrendous eather began to leak from her.
"Don't lie to me boy! I have been watching you and your comrades from the time you met Tess in Damiruu. I know queen Nesvi sent you to find him, and I know his relationships with everyone of you."

Misven shot a unsettling glance at River, it was only a second, a second was enough to put Pyria on edge. Misven turned back to Lebry.
"Now lets try that again, you are looking for Tess no?"

Lebry sighed. "You're wrong again with that missy. They're looking for Tess. I'm looking for something different. Let's see to solve the uncastable's problem, regardless if there is a Tess or not in the stuff"

 

Misven scoffed. "Tess has the well of darkness, so yes you are looking for him, as am I. So my offer is still relevant."

 

Rellix - Questioning

Rellix scratched at one of his horns while his tail flicked back and forth, nervously.

"Ma'am, only about half of our crew traveled together fifteen years ago. Some of us, like myself have no idea who Tess is. Also, seeing as we're in the weaker position here, I'd like to point out that you have no proof. For all we know, we could get there, and you could summon some army and kill us on the spot. How do we know that we can trust you, especially since you're, ah, methods of contacting us were just a bit underhanded?"

 

Misven laughed, "Why wouldn't I just kill you now? I already have an army and what reason would I have to kill you? It would be an awful waste of time to steal your runes, drag you here and then just kill you. But, as a sign of good faith."

Misven produced the runes, "So will you help me? Not that you have much choice." Misven said dangleing the runes infront of them.

 

Teehee. You do realize I was the one Emery had to deal with stealing all the seeds right? Pip thought as she snuck up on the woman from above, hanging from one of the masts. She had gotten into something and her feathers were a muddy brown -completely camouflaging her to the wood. She narrowed her eyes to keep her bright red irises from drawing attention, then began to wait for the moment when the woman wouldn't be paying attention to the runes dangling form her hand.

If anyone says I'm not a good thief then i'll be a seagull. she thought, opening one eye wide briefly in her mom's direction to tell her where she was. She would be the only one who would be paying enough attention to notice it.

 

Eris

"Yes!", Eris nearly screamed at Misvren . "We'll help, OK? Please stop dragging this out, its really getting humdrum!" She was so irritated she didn't even notice the pair of white doves that landed on her shoulders. Animals were drawn to her beauty.

In an aside to Emery, Eris said, "You seem all right, but I can't believe the others are letting this charlatan bully them..."

 

River Hoya


River caught Misven's glare, though it lasted only a second. It sent a chill down her spine and Pyria shifted uncomfortably beside her
"So will you help me? Not that you have much choice." Misven said dangleing the runes infront of them.

River wished she could drown Misven in her own lake but that wasn't an option. At the moment, the only thing standing between them and becoming bones was the matter of Tess.
"And what will you do with Tess when we find him?" River asked, anger deepening her voice. This creature was more dispicable than Eris. In fact, she preferred Eris. Perhaps part of the reason was because Will showed no intrest in her. If anything he was disgusted by her. But with this Siren, his mind was not his own. She began to relieze how important it was that if Will chose anyone it would be her.
Where are these feelings coming from? It's been 15 years. Shouldn't I be over him? He hasn't even shown an intrest besides friendship. River tried to push the thoughts aside. There were bigger things to deal with then past, or present, feelings. For instance a sociopathic siren with an intrest in Tess.

 

Lebry

River's expression of doubt was read by Lebry's quick mind.
"Relax River" he said "It's been 15 years and he still spoke about the weather when he met you like certain guy who I don't know. You're worrying too much"

Lebry smiled and then he said.

"Siren's queen. We don't really have a choice here. That's a yes to your petition..... But!. You don't expect us to do all this alone right?. I speak for my partners when saying. We require more aid in the quest, and if is possible a better methor of traveling"

 

Will

"And what will you do with Tess when we find him?"

"And you say that you already know that we're looking for Tess. Why did you bring us here if you could have just waited for us to find him, then bring us here. There's something thing that you aren't telling us." Once Misven had put clothes on, he'd felt more himself again, her hold on him lessened, but she was still bewitching. But while River spoke, he felt more drawn to her that the Siren, that inexplicable tug in his chest was back, further breaking Misven's hold on him. All the time he'd spent trying to get over River, and he found that she still had a hold over him, as powerful as any magic.

 

Emery Rose

Now that she could think correctly, Emery was disgusted and found the siren's antics completely revolting. As they discussed the woman's purpose and mentioned Tess, she grew slightly bored and looked around for Pip. Had she flown off? What if something bad happened to her? Emery cursed under her breath; she'd never forgive herself...

But, it was then that she looked up and noticed one of Pip's glowing eyeballs, disguised in the wood. Emery suppressed a smile; and casually she winked at her daughter. Hopefully Pip wouldn't get hurt doing whatever she had planned.

"You seem all right, but I can't believe the others are letting this charlatan bully them..." She turned as the elf woman muttered to her. Well, to have the approval of the obnoxious woman sure was something.

"Thank you, but I believe that we shouldn't give in to this woman and her plea. Captain, Sir, don't listen to her. Do you really expect her to give the runes to you after you seal the deal? I've seen this trick played more than once."

 

Misven smiled at River. "Why do you need to know? Are you worried for him?" Misven ignoring her turned to everyone else. "You'll find me quite valuable, I have enough riches to keep your journey funded for centuries." Misven snapped her fingers, a minute past and then the boat rocked as if something had dropped a huge load on it.

Pyria ran to the window and gasped. "Sea monsters!"

"Ha, calm down child. He is my pet, and he has just dropped a mouth full of gold on your ship." Pyria looked back at Misven. Good lord, she had a sea monster waiting under the boat all this time, had they attacked her...

"She's clever."

Misven now satisfied stood up looking tired. She tossed the runes to Relix, "So we have a deal I am assumeing. If that's it I'm going to my room. "You there girl, show me to my chambers." Misven ordered, looking at Pyria.

Pyria looked at River, she had the look of dread, she didn't want to be alone with this creature for one moment.

Misven then turned to Emery "I'm trust worthy, for now anyway."

 

Rellix - The Limits of Tolerance

Misven now satisfied stood up looking tired. She tossed the runes to Relix, "So we have a deal I am assumeing. If that's it I'm going to my room. "You there girl, show me to my chambers." Misven ordered, looking at Pyria.

"Hold it!" Rellix shouted, agitated, as Misven tried to leave, "I have something to say. First, don't talk to my crew . . . friends, that way, ever again. Second, you will keep your Hells forsaken gold until we get back, this ship doesn't need any more weight slowing her down. And third, I don't care how powerful you are, or how easy it would be for you to kill us right now, I am STILL the captain of this ship until I am deemed unfit to sail and until that time I will not tolerate any use of magic or song or anything else against each other. Do I make myself clear?"

Without waiting for a response Rellix got up to leave. As he passed Emery, he whispered in her ear.

"Assuming that your daughter is the one climbing on my ceiling, I would suggest that you get her down quieter than she got up there," and at that, he left.

 

Misven chuckled at the fiends demands. "I'll promise to behave, but I find it ridiculous that a scorch fiend is commanding this ship, as for the gold, if you don't take it now You'll never have it. And you don't look like you can afford to pass up free money."

Misvens contempt for scorch fiends was apparent. But for now there would be no bloodshed.

 

Misven chuckled at the fiends demands. "I'll promise to behave, but I find it ridiculous that a scorch fiend is commanding this ship, as for the gold, if you don't take it now You'll never have it. And you don't look like you can afford to pass up free money."


Rellix turned back around an scowled, "Fine then, if that's how it is. Steam, Crumpet, I'll need your help moving this gold below deck. And Misven, you will behave, I expect that of you. And since you don't know, I'm one of the best sailors around, even without using Merc. Only one better that I know of is an uncastable, an they're better than most at most. Deal with your own prejudices on your time, not ours."

Rellix paused for a moment, then laughed at his own hypocrisy.

Misven and River

River stood abruptly and pushed Pyria behind her. "I'm sure one of your daughters can escort you or if you must, I will escort you. But Pyria isn't going anywhere with you."

"How can my daughters excort me? This is not their ship, I guess you'll have to escort me."
River nodded pushing Pyria next to Will. She led Misven out the door to the lower deck.
"So...tell me, what do you think of Tess?" Misven asked, though for what reason she couldn't tell.
"It's been 15 years. When I knew him then he was kind with a good a heart, but I couldn't tell you what he is like now."
"Do you belive he will simply, give you the well of darkness after all these years, have you ever thought of what you are going to to do if he resists?"
River stopped suddenly and turned so that Misven could see her glare. "I would hope that he would agree to join us in our quest. What does it matter to you!? Why would you want to join us on a quest where you might lose some of your beauty?"
"he is my son can't you tell? why would I not care? I have seen his exploits and I know his thoughts. It's time he returned home to people who actually care for him. It is time he resumed his role as a siren. You understand, you are a mother yourself no?"
River's mouth almost dropped open from shock. Aside from her eyes widening slightly, however, she didn't show any reaction. Her father would have been proud. River turned back around silently and pushed open a nearby door. After peering inside to make sure no had claimed it she gestured for Misven to go in. As Misven walked by River gave her reply, "I am a mother. But I was once also a daughter. Tess has a right to make his own decisions about his life, especially at his age. If Tess is anything like he was when I knew him, he will refuse your offer to return home. I suggest not pushing matter." River began walked away. She needed to speak to her companions.

As River was leaving Misven added. "You know River, the only reason why he left in the first place was for you." River turned, Misven was giving her that look again. She then closed the door to her room.

 

Emery Rose

"Assuming that your daughter is the one climbing on my ceiling, I would suggest that you get her down quieter than she got up there." The captain's gruff voice seemed amplified two times more than a normal whisper. Emery was happy to do his bidding. Walking the opposite direction from where she knew Pip was she tapped her finger to her chin.

"Hmm...I wonder where Pip could be? She was just right there, but now I'm not so sure." She tried not to laugh as she pulled out some leftover sunfire seeds from the pouch on her belt. "I guess that means I get to eat these seeds all by myself..." She lifted one to her mouth and cracked it open with her teeth; the spice flavors tickling her tongue.

Who said that mothers couldn't have some fun?

Month Noxeria, Day 12

Location: Lore, edge - somewhere on it - ?

We got attacked by some mercenaries again, after the Well of Darkness. Tess, as usual, played the hero and went on about how he was a danger to us and so on an so forth. He left us, right at this spot. I doubt we'll see him again.

I hope he turns out OK. We should have chased him and got him to stay; he won't stand a chance, alone, against all the people who want the Well.

"There it is..." William looked up from his journal and tucked it back into his coat pocket. It really didn't tell him much; Tess could be anywhere by now.

Misven probably knows where he is. She seems like she knows more than she lets on...

 

River Hoya

"You know River, the only reason why he left in the first place was for you."

Those last words lingered in River's mind. What did she mean by that. I knew he cared about me. Almost as much as Will does or did. But...he left for me? River sighed and shook her head. Mesvin was likely just toying with her mind. Since she couldn't control River through her beauty like the others, she was attempting to use other means. Like confusing her. And it's working. Not to mention that look...a look that said, "I'm going to make my revenge upon you sweet." Then again, she could just be over-reading it.

River rubbed her temples as she made her way to the Captian's cabin where they had all met. They had only been on this quest a day and she was already seasick, stressed beyond belief and emotionally drained. Add to that her daughter had snuck aboard and was now in terrible danger. There were too many people on this quest she didn't trust. Lebry, who was being unexpectedly normal, Eris, an elvish bounty hunter, and now Mesvin; just to name a few.
River pushed open the door to the cabin. Emery was eating seeds and the others were either talking quietly or looking stunned. And now for another mental fire bomb.
"We may have a problem." River began, closing the door behind her. "I just found out that Mesvin...is Tess's mother. She will stop at nothing to get him back."

Rellix rubbed his forehead, the onset of a migraine putting him on edge, then grained, "I'm just going to ask. Would somebody please explain who Tess is and what's so important about him that nearly got us all killed?"

 

"Um he's the guy with the well of darkness, you know the well of darkness we're after?" Pyria replied, "Honestly have you not been paying attention?"

She sighed. "I'm more concerned about the possibility of Misven getting the well of darkness for her self, poor Tess...haveing a mother like that."

 

William (Level: 5|Expertise: 0|Shield: 100%)

We may have a problem." River began, closing the door behind her. "I just found out that Mesvin...is Tess's mother. She will stop at nothing to get him back.

"Excellent," William said, quite loudly.

Stares.

"Er..." He cleared his throat, and said, "I know what you're all thinking, but it's not for that. We're all freed from her seduction, remember?" William doubted that helped him at all, but he continued and said, "She's incredibly useful. Misven has near-unlimited wealth, an army, and likely lots of knowledge on Tess. Finding him will be a cinch with her aid. And I'm sure Tess can deal with her once we have the Well of Darkness. Sons and moms fight all the time."

 

Lebry, who was close to River on that moment whispered on her ear, to make sure Mesvin doesn't hear him.

"So.... we get the Well and Tess.... then we never return to this place, in other words we run away from the Sirens. I'm sure that in a kingdom they won't be able to catch us"

He make sure to use the lowest tone of voice possible.

But well, as we all know, Lebry is a person who love to test and trick.

 

Rellix

"Um he's the guy with the well of darkness, you know the well of darkness we're after?" Pyria replied, "Honestly have you not been paying attention?"

Rellix rolled his eyes.

"Yes, of course I've been paying attention, its just that my ship almost got stolen and we all almost just died. Though I suppose that's no excuse. So does anyone have a plan of action? I'm not the leader here, I'm only the guided transport."
