That was actually rather cute, and more insightful than you might have thought. Not only did we get to hear your accent, but we got to know that rust stains in Australia are referred to as corrosion.

I lived in Central Florida for many years where many people use well water to water their lawns. The well water in Central Florida will do the very same thing to a wall (ask any Floridian), so it's something I have seen many times over, but we would have called it a rust stain where I lived.

Accent + Regional usage in one video. Excellent. :D

I am glad that I already a video to post and didn't need to make a new one. I would have been at a loss.

I don't really know if I have an accent. I'm from Belgium you see... How thick would that be in your ears?

Although I think I can manage a different variety of accents. I met some Australians once and after a few beers you just adapt their accent and they said it wasn't all that bad.

Well, maybe it was, but they had too much to drink! :D

Everyone has an accent. Doesn't matter where you are from or what language you spoke first...you have an accent. That is part of what makes us all special.

Loved your "wall" Eoz, and your pictures Carmina.

I spent a week in Hong Kong with a Kiwi. Did that guy like to drink! One morning, after too much partying the night before, he woke before me and called his mother from the hotel room. After a couple of minutes, he handed me the phone and said, "Here, you talk to me mum." Then, he left for breakfast and did not come back! His "mum" was delightful, inviting me to stay with them any time I visit New Zealand. At least, that is what I thought she said...I could barely understand her. Hard to believe we were both speaking English! LOL

I'm told my accent has a tinge of Australian - otherwise, it's a fairly standard British Midlands accent.

Funnily enough, this is the exact same passage I used to learn a Brooklyn accent for an audition, brought back some memories!

You shouldn't hate your voice, it's great-husky and all. lol...And man, you're eyes are a great color. Anyways, you inspired me. I didn't have time before to record, but I've made a new video now. Lol, it didn't turn out good, but I guess the way I speak turned out fine. lol, though not great that too.
    Post in a few.

My accent is regularly laughed at. I'm a Monkey Hanger (meaning I'm from Hartlepool, UK) & I get told I sound like a mix between a Scouser (Liverpool) & Geordie (Newcastle).

We say things like 'Bu-eh' for butter, 'Par-ee' for party, & say were from 'Ar-le-pewl'. & then 'werk' instead of work, 'cerry' instead of curry, 'werd' instead of 'word' etc.

Although I kinda love ar-lepudlian accents. & anyone whos from the North.

ill post a video if i can work out how to haha. x

    You are gorgeous, Neha!

Nobody seems to know what my accent is, even other people in Ontario. They claim I don't have a Toronto accent, which makes no sense to me. Half of the people who live there were not born there. Within a few days, I was told that, and that I sound American, and then that I sound European. GAH!

So, do we have an inordinate number of attractive people on this forum or what?

@ Neha: I want to go shopping with you!! So fun that would be. And along the way you could show me all your favorite chaat :D

@ Lydia: Your English is lovely, silly! I love that house! All the woodwork. Is that an antique marble-top table behind you in the video?

Thanks! (I don't think so, but whatever)
No, I'm afraid that's not antique... well, I have no idea, actually.

Wow wow, so Lyd's got an accent! :p
And nobody's ever going to convince me I have a nice voice.

Btw, now you've got to put up a vid!

I'll try. I'm afraid I've got little to talk about. I could say a few words then serenade you all with a song or something. ;)

Mmm, I didn't know what to talk about either... I just said some nonsense and yeah, it was just kind of weird talking to a computer screen, you know. :p
