"On My Way" by Ingram Hill. A country-rock song with a singer's voice like honey and music easy to dance (or flail, as I do) to. A beautiful sounding melody juxtaposed with some seriously bitter lyrics. "And on my way, I'll take the sunshine; and on my way, I'll take your dreams. On my way I'll say I'm sorry to no one but me. On my way I'll be my own man, and I'll only please myself. On my way, my pride's the only feeling I've got left..."
The royalties should be through any day now? The Shaky Hands - Lunglight (shy, trembly-vocalled, indie-schmindie, alt.country flecked niceness)
"Cookie Jar" by Gym Class Heroes God, I could die happy listening to this song. Not a huge hip-hop fan (at least, not the current mainstream style), but Travis is a lovely emcee, and the band (that really should get more credit) works well together. The song uses cookies as a metaphor for females, if you're unfamiliar with the song. --If that's the case, familiarize yourself immediately. "You see I got this problem; I need help tryin'a solve it. 'Cause meeting after meeting, and I'm still a cookie-holic. You can hide them; I'ma find them, on the counter, in the closet. And I'll say I ain't do it with my face covered in chocolate..." Awesome.
Are these senseless posts for music discussion? Listening to: Lady gaGa - Just Dance Lady GaGa is a new raw talent who has taken the music industry by storm. She is my knight in shining armour!
"Without Love" by the original cast of Hairspray. I love musicals, and this one is adorable, has a good message, and is absolutely hilarious, this number in particular. LINK (sneaking into jail): Tracy, you took beautiful behind bars! TRACY: It must be the low-watt institutional lighting! ... PENNY: In my ivory tower, life was just a hostess snack, but now i've tasted chocolate, and I'm never going back! Jeez. First "Cookie Jar" and now this. I'm getting hungry!
Mmmm ... everyone likes a little pyschedelia. Good listening. White Williams - Smoke (Catchy, Hot Chip-alike, blissed-out indie-pop harmlessness to start a Tuesday)
flying vessel-stardust soundtrack Stardust is my favorite movie of all time, it's amazing!! the music is all instrumental, but it is amazing music, and adds so much to the movie, plus listening to the music is almost like watching the movie because I know the parts so well
Cats In Paris - Flamethrowers (jittery part electronic, part classical indie which recalls Arcade Fire in places and post-rock elsewhere)
