We approve! *thumbs up* "Twilight" by Elliott Smith. He's got such a flair for the dramatic, such a flair for the depressive. "Twilight" was the first Smith song I heard and fell in love from that part. "I'm so nice to you, I could make it through, but you're already somebody's baby. I could make you smile, if you stayed a while, but how long will you stay with me, baby?" *cue violins*
"If U Seek Amy" by Britney Spears Love me, hate me, but cant you see what I see? All and the boys and all of the girls are begging to 'if you seek Amy...' LOL. I know Brit doesnt write her own songs anymore, but whoever wrote this one for her sure was creative. (The song phonetically spells out something just a tad obscene...) I miss the old Brit, songs like "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" (yes, I like that song), but I really like "Circus" and "If U Seek Amy" etc. While her new performances are nothing to go wild over (come on Brit; a fabulous dancer like you just walking during performances?!), it still shows that she can cover a wide style of music and songs still, albeit with lots of help. Brit's back. Ha ha he he ha ha ho!
I've found myself listening to a load of songs connected to HTFC recently. The original version of 'Those Were The Days' by Mary Hopkin has found its way on to my most-played list on iTunes (alongside the Cowshed version), and I've got the new version of 'Smile Awhile' by Propane Penny on my playlist at the moment.
Not at all. Sad songs always make me feel better about my own situation. And sad movies, sad stories, sad poems... Possibly a depression addict. "Retrovertigo" by Mr Bungle While I'm dulled by excess, and a cynic at best, my art imitates crime, Paid for by the allies. So invest. Now I'm finding truth is a ruin; Nauseous end that nobody is pursuing. Staring into glassy eyes, mesmerized, there's a vintage thirst returning, But I'm sheltered by my channel-surfing. Every famine virtual-- Retrovertigo... This song is so poignant and sad that it makes me want to cry... it's sad, but it's not that sad, so. If you've never heard a Mr Bungle song, hit up your nearest music outlet and GET IT, especially this song. Everyone song is so different; I swear you're hearing about 50 different bands as you flick through 50 Mr Bungle songs.
