"Wishmaster" by Nightwish The best album Nightwish ever made... Oh, and Agreen! I listened to Phideaux's "Waiting for the Axe to Fall" last night, and it was good! It took me some effort to find though. Where did you hear of them? Good song.
Xavier Phideaux has a brief cameo on the latest Ayreon. I've found a surprising number of my favourite bands through Ayreon. While it was only a line or two, I really liked his delivery and looked him up- I found some tracks on myspace and on youtube- although they've sinced changed the tracklist on the myspace site. The biggest problem with being a fan of a little known band is it's hard to find their music- I've yet to find any of their early albums. Edit: I listened to the rest of the No World for Tomorrow album by Coheed & Cambria and I really like it. The title track is probably my favourite so far, it's been stuck in my head all day. Oceanborn is my favourite Nightwish album because of The Pharoah Sails to Orion, but I agree Wishmaster is one of their best.
Within Temptation, All I Need. My favourite symphonic metal band, the only thing I dislike about them is that they take so long between albums
I will have to check out their myspace before I finally collapse tonight/today. I didnt even think that they might have a myspace. *self-slap* I have that problem too, though, but more with local bands. The scene here isnt that bad; in fact, it's pretty active, but there's the problem that most of the bands are either unsigned or just got signed, and the even bigger problem that I really dont like to pay for music, even for struggling bands. I've got my own things to worry about, like toothpaste tomorrow, and clothes for the winter. YAY! (I'm not allowed to insert any more smileys --smilies?-- in, or I would.) No World for Tomorrow is their latest album and is my favourite album they've put out. I'm so glad you like them, 'cause they're really, really good. They have that quality of excellence that you and I really (really) like, and I think it's interesting that Claudio can make a kinda prog-rock song sound really poppy. (IE: The Suffering off of that album.) Wow, how many times can I say "really" in a time frame of ten seconds? Come on, Mercy. Really? Oceanborn was alright --I really loved Sacrament of Wilderness, but it's actually at the bottom of my list for them, right above Dark Passion Play. (Annette is fine and everything, but she just... *sigh* ) I think I changed my mind though. Century Child might be my favourite album, for Ever Dream, Bless the Child, and End of All Hope (oh, and Slaying the Dreamer). Anyway, I also love Within Temptation. It was WT that led me to learn about Nightwish in the first place. I dont like the All I Need video so much because I think I'm missing out on literary or cinema references. Ah, well. Because I need to go to bed, I'm listening to slightly more quiet songs. It was "Nymphetamine Fix" by Cradle of Filth, which switched to "Let the Drummer Kick It" by Citizen Cope, and now we're playing "And All That Could Have Been" by Nine Inch Nails. And All That Could Have Been is my absolute favourite NIN song, and is probably his most personal, lyrically.
They're very interesting, they combine a lot of different styles I like without losing focus. At times Claudio's vocals remind me a lot of Geddy Lee and they do have a bit of a Rush feel to them which, as a prog-rock fan from Ontario, I am obliged to like. But they also remind me a lot of different styles I liked when I was younger- they sound like some of the punk rock and pop acts I listened to when I first started listening to music, only they're much better both in terms of songwriting and ability. I can't think of a progressive band with catchier songs. I'll have to check out their older stuff as well. I always go back and forth on Century Child- Bless the Child, Ever Dream, End of All Hope and especially Beauty of the Beast are really good, but it also has a few like Ocean Soul and Feel For You that I don't like. I like a few things on Dark Passion Play a lot, especially The Islander- but I find it hard to believe they couldn't find a better singer. I didn't even know they made a video for All I Need, and spent an hour or so catching up on all the ones I've missed. I couldn't pick up all the references in it either, but I think a pretty bad Jennifer Lopez movie called 'The Cell' was one of them. I found the imagery pretty interesting though. Ironically the only video by them I didn't like too much was for Stand My Ground, which is my favourite WT song. Then again The Grand Conjuration by Opeth is one of my favourite songs, and it has a horrible video. I was the opposite- I heard Nightwish my first year at school, which led me to WT, Therion, After Forever... and eventually my favourite metal band, Opeth. Speaking of them, Opeth, Demon of the Fall
I'm listening to Spongebob singing "Krusty Krab pizza, is the pizza, for you and me!" because of my siblings' addiction to Nick. xP
Hahah. "One Way or Another" by Kate Voegele Despite the rather unhappy lyrics, the beat makes me wanna get up and dance. I think I shall.
Devin Townsend, Vampira. Already an excellent track, it is made even better with the Vampolka that comes before. Linkin Park, From the Inside. Much as the third album sucked, I still like the first two. And.. Bruce Dickinson, The Alchemist. It was my favourite song through high school, and I still love it. It also has my favourite album art, because William Blake.
Back Around - Wolfmother From their upcoming album, Cosmic Egg which I absolutely can't wait for! These boys rock my face off!
Kamelot, Elizabeth (live). In turns an atmospheric and epic take on what's become a popular legend for metal bands.
So 532 page and I'm joining in haha. I read through a few pages (not all 532 though) to see what kind of music everyone listens to, and I'm happy to read that there are a lot of people listen to the same bands I do! And yes that's pretty odd because the only person I really know who listens to the same kind of music as me is my boyfriend. It's a rare occasion that deserves celebration when someone actually knows what band I'm talking about ^.^ My song: Pain of Salvation: ! (Forward)
"No Association" by Silverchair I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up. Their new material is actually pretty good, too, but I wish they'd made more songs like "No Association" and "Nobody Came." Freak Show, hands down, was the best album ever made by these young musical 'prodigies.'
