Pretty much anything by Audioslave is highly recommended by me. I've always liked them, but never really got into them majorly until this year. It's really a shame they're not together anymore. The chemistry between Cornell's vocals and Morello's guitar work is pretty great. It's too bad Chris Cornell (Who I feel had one of the best voices in Rock in his prime) turned into a giant douchebag and started making hip hop sh**. Like hip hop? Fine, but it just doesn't fit Cornell's style.

Also, I'm about done listening to Pendulum's Tempest Live at the Brixton Academy. Whoever the front man is, he's got a pretty great shouting voice. The softer singing at the beginning was decent, but I felt he really shined when he took it up a notch.
Thanks for sharing that Xeno, I may have just found a new band to get into. :)

P.S. I also really dug the soft synth backgrounds during the instrumental sections.

Plus, Audioslave is effectively just RATM with Cornell's vocals. And I do love Rage. :D

I like Rage for the instrumentals, but Zach's voice makes me cringe. I definitely prefer Cornell over him.
The first album perhaps sounds more like Rage with Chris singing instead, but the two they did after it sound pretty unique.

(Actually their second album Out of Exile is a response to what everyone was saying, including Xeno)

I recommend you check that album out for sure.

    I shall.

And yes, it was Zach's voice that would put me off Rage and the Morello would get me back on. :p

Days ofn the New Shelf in a Room- Great voice, but was a few years too late on the scene (grunge was well dead by than).

Number one for 16 weeks (not this song) and a record deal valued over 20 million dollars before they were 17. Then came the drugs (as always)

"Arms of Sorrow" by Killswitch Engage.

They're a fairly positive band, although the title of the song and the band's name might suggest otherwise. I've heard that the concerts are fabulous. :) Check out this video; I love the slow-mo effect, and watch it all the way through. The 'surprise' at the end makes me smile every time.

Killswitch Engage is fabulous live. I like them a whole lot more now that they have Howard, the newer singer. Their old vocalist was sh** and made me not like them so much.

I'm not a huge fan though. The screaming thing puts me off a bit. (though Howard is considered to be a 'good' screamer)

Edit: I also really enjoy their cover of Dio's Holy Diver.

Yeah, the screaming is why I prefer songs like "Arms of Sorrow" rather than "My Curse." The screaming is minimal and artfully placed, to emphasize certain points in AoS, although I understand why he prefers to scream the My Curse lyrics than sing it.

I hated the old vocalist too. Only song I'll listen to with him on vocals is "My Last Serenade."

I can't explain why but i just could never get into Killswitch Engage. I saw them once with Lamb of God and walked away thinking who are these possers, then i saw them a few years later with Machine Head and Testament and just was not digging it. *Shrugs* It not them, just me.

Odd choice, but i like it

Phil Collins - "In The Air Tonight*

That drum bit does it for me every time.

I wish a metal band would rip it off, say Disturbed, they could do something pretty sweet with a song like that!

Oooh, they could indeed! :) I think they did a better job on "Land of Confusion" than Genisis did.

My favorite disturbed song is The Game. Last song they played at a concert I went to.

(I was afraid they weren't going to play it! :))

That's one of my favourites, too; I think either "The Game" or "Voices" is my favourite of all time. I love Ten Thousand Fists and Indestructible, but Believe and The Sickness were the best of all time.

"Bright Eyes" by Blind Guardian. (NOT to be confused with the sucky band Bright Eyes.)

This is one of my favourite songs of all time, too. Definitely one of the best Blind Guardian songs out there. :)

    Exterminate, Regenerate - Chameleon Circuit.

I should explain: You know how Harry Potter has "Wizard Rock"? Well, a group of friends decided they should start "Trock" I.e. "TARDIS Rock" :D

They have an album out that I should hopefully be buying, and this song is one of my favourites because it's about the never ending war between the Doctor and Davros and/or the Daleks as a whole. :) EPIC.

    Yes, I'm a nerd. K? :p
