Stratovarius, When Mountains Fall November's Doom, When Desperation Fills the Void. If it's possible for something as chaotic as a metal song to be perfect, this song is perfect.
Uprising ~ Muse I have always liked this song, as it sounds a little bit like the Doctor Who theme. And I like Muse, also.
Linkin Park and Jay Z- Points of Authority/99 problems. What raises this song to the level of brilliance is the self-congratulation over their use of 'edgy' language. You naughty cards!
Therion, Midgard. Therion presents an interesting fusion of metal and classical music. While other bands pluck classical elements and try to force them into an otherwise metal song, on their very best work, like Epica's best, Therion achieves a near perfect synthesis. While they have many songs that don't quite work, their successes are amongst the most beautiful pieces in popular music. Midgard is one of their finest successes.
