Don't Follow - Alice in Chains No, I don't listen to them a lot... but I once illegally copied this cd from the library and this is one of the songs I like...
Indeed. I am in love with them. (No surprise there- I love Queens of the Stone Age and Led Zeppelin) No, not really. Bandoliers - Them Crooked Vultures
'Mina, one of my favourite bands (Blind Guardian) bases most of their songs off the Lord of the Rings trilogy. But I've never heard of those games, so maybe yours is geekier. I'm currently listening to... "Sorry, Sorry" by Super Junior ...It sounds a lot cooler than it does when you know the English translation. Sort of like Rammstein.
I think Rammstein's lyrics- even when translated into English are awesome. Till is a hell of a lyricist. Oh, except for the single off their new album. That sucks hard, but the rest of the songs are good. Waidmanns Heil - Rammstein
"Feuer Frei" was my first Rammstein song. I loved it --and I still do, but I had to laugh when I found a proper translation. Now I'm listening to "Aqui Estoy Yo" by Luis Fonsi. There are some other latino singers as well; I definitely know Aleks Syntec is in there, but I cant remember the others. Now this song has a good English translation. I need good Spanish hip-hop. Suggestions?
^ Merc, alot of Rammstein songs use metaphor and symbolism, so their lyrics make next to no sense in the translation half the time lol. They sound so epic in German, but if they sang all their songs in English....Well, I don't think the impact of the metaphor would be quite as good, haha.
Hmm, I've been a fan of Rammstein for quite some time, but after I translated a few of their songs, I settled for just loving their sound. So I never ended up picking up on any symbolism or metaphor. Thanks for explaining though --makes a lot more sense why their lyrics seem so strange to me now. "One Way Or Another" by Kate Voegele
Between the Buried and Me, Colors. Stunning. One of the best metal albums ever made, at least the best since Opeth's My Arms Your Hearse. In just over an hour it covers a huge range, encompassing almost everything that makes metal such a rich and diverse genre of music- it's brutal, powerful, aggressive, sensitive, technical- and more than once, it is beautiful. The last time I was so blown away was the first time I listened to Love by Ayreon, only carried out across the entire album.
Between the Buried and Me, Colors. On endless repeat, broken up every once in a while for either The Great Misdirect, or Alaska.
