Actually it wasn't meant to be a pun. :p That would be "Sheik", which would mean she was a man. And she probably isn't.

Shiek isn't even a real word, yet fashion designers use it all the time. It felt appropriate and it was meant as a compliment.

Yes, learn something from Carmina....Chic....how did you mistake something as clearly pronounced as "chic" for 'shiek'?

Yeah? No? Chic is chick as in the girl chick, the chicken chick...and shiek is shallow shiek!

I suppose it's kind of like chartreuse. The ch gets a sh sound.

So chic is pronounced like sheek.

I just want everyone to know that my improper spelling stemmed from ignorance rather than trying to make an ethnic pun.

Chic isn't pronounced the same way as 'Chick', because the 'K' changes the way in which you pronounce the 'i'.

It goes from 'i' to an 'ee' sound.

However, the 'Ch' in this case changes from a 'Ch' sound to a 'Sh' sound.

    ...does that make sense?

    Wow I suck at explaining...

Nah, I get what you mean, I was just explaining the ch/sh part. ch of chic is like च in Hindi, where as sh of shiek is like श of hindi. Both are distinctive sounds. Or maybe the accent factor plays in..*shrug*

I don't care much for ethnic puns. But I believe sheik is properly pronounced like shake anyway.

Does it depend on whether the i or the e is first? Because Princess Zelda's alter-ego Shiek was always pronounced "Sheek" by everyone I knew.

I used the i before the e. Sadly, Zelda is where my ignorance of the proper spelling stemmed from.

Boy, am I embarassed now.

Me either. Which is why I never intended for there to be one.

I figured it was time to unleash my (not really new) hair on all of you. :p

I modified the background. I would do more, but that sort of hair is difficult to manipulate.
