My wife and I had our first sonogram today, learned that she has a "High risk pregnancy". Here's why:
D:< I just... I kindasortamaybe dislike you for this. And Kyle, oh my. High risk pregnancy? Aw, I hope for a great outcome for you, your wife, and your future children. All the best, seriously.
The high risk is just because there is twice as many things that could go wrong. I'm not too worried-- possibly because I'm still in emotional overload and not capable of precessing that sort of trash just yet
FEEDBACK NEEDED: For my final independent project at uni (same as dissertation) I've decided to create a horror fiction magazine with an urban theme. This is the image and font I'm pretty sure I want to use for the front cover (and for a story inside - it's a "feature" illustration" I've decided) and I need to know what you guys think. Obviously it's missing the other content and barcode etc, but I just need feedback on the image and font for now. Does it look like a horror magazine? Would you buy it? Does the picture and font work well? Does the picture look good enough? Does it strike you as a FICTION magazine? Let me know. If you dislike anything about it be honest, but don't forget your manners while you're at it.
I really like the image, but I'm less convinced about the font. It works fine as a title, but if you're going to include other content on the cover with that font, it might be a bit much. It definitely captures the horror aspect. My only other thought is that it looks quite like a movie poster or dvd cover too, but that will probably change once you add in the other elements/the cinematic thing might be what you were going for anyway.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. The font is just for the title, though, so don't worry. I'm planning on something much plainer for all the rest. Someone on FB suggested the piece needed a splash of colour to break up all the monochrome, and I think that'd be a good idea. What do you reckon? Thanks so much for your feedback. All heps for my research portfolio.
I feel like it would be hard to insert colour in a way that wasn't arbitrary or cliche. I don't really have a problem with the monochrome, but if you can find a good way to include colour, that could work too.
So I've finally gotten some before and after shots of the suit I tailored for Christmas. I'm modeling it here, because Tommy is too lazy to send me pics of HIM wearing it. Before: and after:
Bear in mind I'm not a huge horror fanatic or anything, but to me it seems more like a crime magazine than a horror one. It gives off the idea of city life, street crimes and stuff. It is a good front cover though, and the picture and font works well together. I don't think you necessarily need colour, but hmm, you could maybe just do one colour like they did in Sin City(?) where it was black and white and red (if I remember rightly)? *waves back* Nice photo. Looking sharp.
Not liking how Kenthew Rennald (character from my sci-fi) looked like, I completely revamped him. Behold!! Now he actually looks like he fits in a sci-fi setting! 8D Though I may have made him a tad bit too terrifying...I suppose that's good. But it's gonna be hell trying to describe him...
Thanks! There's definitely a lot of elements of crime because it's based in city environments. However, it's open to all sub-genres, and I think each issue would have a different cover to reflect the kind of content. For example, if I had a feature story, I'd probably make the front cover represent it. Urban Limbo involves crime in a crime-horror sense, rather than crime/mystery. If you haven't read crime/horror cross-genre stuff then it's pretty hard to describe, but that's more what I'm looking for.
Ashleigh, I think your cover looks dandy - I wish I were an artist, so I could offer a more useful critique. But, if you wanna add some color, I'd suggest poking around colourlovers.com for a palette to use. I'm pretty sure you can do searches by color, if there are any specific colors you'd like to use. Link, that is one freaky-looking something. I like his crazy blue hair~
Was bored yesterday. Dyed my hair. Just want to make sure I look extra nice, since I'm getting married in...36 days!
Thanks! @Lydia: Thanks. I met my future hubby on this site, actually. Haha. Go figure! When we met in person, I knew for sure he was the one. I know. I'm being all mushy now. Haha.
