@Andrae Smith, that reminds me of all those physics jokes about various particles walking into a bar. For example: A neutron walks into a bar and asks, "How much for a drink?" The bartender replies, "For you, no charge."
In a ridiculously bad segue from the ASOIAF thread elsewhere, I was out and about with my grandson today. I live near the docks in Belfast. The weather was gorgeous so I brought my camera. This is Titanic Studios where many of the interior shots of Game of Thrones are filmed. It's known locally as the Painthouse, as that was what it was prior to the studio being set up.
The kestrels returned this year to make their nest in the hollow of a tree I have in the side yard. Mrs. Kestrel stopped for some vanity photos here in one of my royal poincianas.
My writing has ground a halt because of the heat, so I started this. It's not quite finished yet but it's getting there.
@Andrae Smith Cheers...I've still a load of shadows and stuff to go in yet... especially her back, then I need to touch up colours here and there and throw in some highlights. This is where the idea came from... took it the other day. The statue is Titanica, and she sits just outside the Titanic Exhibition Centre, here in Belfast.
I was out and about today looking for inspiration, hoping to fill in the blanks of one particular character in my WIP, the blacksmith's apprentice. The reader doesn't even get to know his name, but if I do my job correctly, they'll not forget him in a hurry. Up until now, I've been writing around the visual description. Today I found him. (His eyes would be watering from more than the heat and steam if he knew what I have in store for him.)
Oh, but look at him that picture. So earnest and in the moment. I could have him with tea and scones.
@Wreybies And the only other serviceable one I managed to take of him... (May as well go for that hat-trick.)
Was he aware you were snapping photos? Is he somewhere where the snapping of photos is the expectation? You don't see a scene like this in America unless you're in Amish country or at a Renaissance fair.
Oh I think this would be a good time to clear a few things up. I thought @obsidian_cicatrix was being a cougar, so that is why I said it should be moved to the erotica section. Secondly I think @Wreybies confused that to mean I thought he was good looking. Lastly, he isn't my type, he has a penis.
@Wreybies. These were taken at the Folk and Transport Museum. Another trip out with my grandson. That guy... he's a pro. I said to my friend Kris just after, had he noticed the practiced nonchalance? The one thing I noticed immediately, is that all the dwellings have really thick walls and sills. Even the hovels have an amazing quality of light about them. As soon as we set foot into the forge, I noticed that he casually assumed his Rembrandtesque position by the window. The most flattering light to be had. No coincidence, I'm sure.
