Loved browsing through all of these amazing photos! I was planning to post a photo, but my current profile picture is of me a few days ago!... so there you go!
I swear, if I spent just as much time writing this thing as I did drawing, I would already be finished by now... At any rate, these are some of the earlier art I did from my fantasy. I'm surprised a lot had changed since. For starters, Devonians are no longer slaves, and Mishu obviously isn't the light-skinned blonde-haired girl she used to be. Now to continue drawing instead of writing...
A very old image of me enjoying a picnic with my fellow Marines. Oddly enough, I remember that the book I was reading was The Boat of a Million Years, by Jerry Pournelle.
Found an old picture that, though filtered, is pretty close to what I look like these days. My hair's longer, I'm scruffier, and I don't own that suit anymore.
Air Force vet, 89-93, Desert Storm here. I was a firefighter. A mishap with my Tinypic saw my cloud photos lost. I know I have them somewhere, on one of these 228 thumb-drives running around here. I'll post 'em when I find 'em.
I'm just gonna leave this picture here with a story... So apparently my affinity with unicorns isn't confined to the forum. I may have mentioned them, in jest, in a few conversations. My colleague at work saw this t-shirt in a shop and bought it for Christmas to me. Of course, I didn't know, so one day during lunch I said I had seen the same shirt, thought about buying it and then decided, nah, I'm taking this unicorn stuff too far, I don't want none of that shit... while she was sitting right there with me. So I got the shirt today and now I gotta wear it for, like, a week cos I'm feeling so guilty about opening my stupid mouth. Anyway, off to walk my unicorn...
Almost as bad as my love of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang. This is the t-shirt I wear all too often... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076QK8MC3/?tag=writingfor07a-20
White Christmas in the backyard and my dogs who refused to both look up at the same time. I believe they were looking for a buried squirrel stash.
My mom got me a sous vide machine for Christmas, and tonight the adventure begins! I'm gonna sous vide ALL THE THINGS MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
be careful sous videing chicken and pork unless you like spending time on the toilet ( I like to slow smoke pork but I'm not convinced that sous vide gets it hot enough to kill the bugs)
It's safe because of how long the temperature is held. You need to cook chicken to 165* in a pan or the oven because it doesn't spend long enough in there, but bacteria in chicken or pork will die at temperatures over 130 degrees as long as that temperature is held for an hour or more. You're basically pasteurizing the meat - 165 is more or less instant pasteurization, but it happens at lower temperatures over a longer period of time. I'm doing mine at 147 degrees for 2 hours, which is more than safe. There's a great article about sous vide chicken here: http://www.seriouseats.com/2015/07/the-food-lab-complete-guide-to-sous-vide-chicken-breast.html I've done a lot of research before taking the leap (including hanging out on the sous vide Reddit forum, which is filled with dudes trying to outdo each other with how long/how low of a temperature they've cooked things sous vide. "I cooked a sirloin steak for 72 hours at 129 degrees and it was awesome, bro!"), so I'm confident in the process. *These are all Fahrenheit temps, of course.
There are sous vide machines?!? But I just bought an electric smoker and a food processor and I'm all out money and space...
Yep! This is the one I got - worked like a charm! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UKPBXM4/?tag=writingfor07a-20
Ah, smaller than I thought, it looked like the plastic bin was necessary but it would work with my pasta pot. Still, I'll have to keep that on the "later" list, just got this: which has done a pretty nice job on these
I worked in a joint that sous vided everything. Makes steak prep easier. Once you get it to temp it'll stay that way for days. Veggies and eggs too. The place had like 12 circulators running around the clock. You don't have to worry about trichtonosous (spell check?) anymore. They've changed all the laws. Hasn't been a case in like 30 years.
You can DIY it reasonably easily - its basically a water bath and a thermostatically controlled heating element....I'm sure there used to be a thread on the smoking meat forum but i can't find it now
Sounds like a plan no H&S concerns there at all (actually most of the DIY threads I've seen involve butchering a kettle)
