They generally don't use magic, but they do have a few shamans, who can influence and, in some cases, control elemental forces with proper ritual and ceremony. Yes. So long as it makes sense and there's a proper backstory, you can be anything.

You will be changing back, and you will only need a minimum of 2 characters (at least one character per party. you can have a maximum of 2 character per party)
