Hurray! Can't wait. Never thought it would happen. Wrote my first novel after being inspired by this series. Gave me my love for symbols, weird characters and surrealism.
Fuck, I was just about to make this thread myself. Actually with the same title, pretty much. TWIN PEAKS IS BACK! FUCKING YES! I love that show so much!
Did you miss the thread? https://www.writingforums.org/threads/no-f-way-twin-peaks-announcement.134898/#post-1275225
I don't know everyone's ages on this site but I watched the series when it premiered. Anyone else do that or did you catch it on reruns or word of mouth? I had read about it in one of my grandmother's tabloid magazines showing shows for the upcoming mid-season since they compared it to Laura ( the old 40's movie ), I marked the date. I was fourteen and everyone was watching something else the night the movie came on. I finally went to my brother's room he had a twelve inch t.v. and I had to talk him into trying it out. He didn't want to at first he thought it looked like a Canadian movie ( lowest of the low - lol. ) He kept switching channels but finally he stopped and Pete discovered the body and that line - She's dead wrapped in plastic - kept us glued to the screen. How big a fan were you? I bought the music on a cassette tape and listened to it over and over. Most of my earlier work features doubles, my first villain was named Leo after Leo, I even bought Laura Palmer's Diary and when I first got the internet that was my first search and one of my first buy's on Ebay. Didn't get the 'I killed Laura Palmer t shirt' though. Also does anyone remember who they thought killed Laura Palmer? I remember thinking it was Audrey's father.
I'm 24, so obviously I wasn't even able to comprehend basic language when Twin Peaks first aired. For some reason it became the 'in' thing among everyone at my university, and we all fell in love with it. I was already a Lynch fan by then anyway, but Twin Peaks was something I hadn't watched until I was practically forced to. I now own the entire series on DVD.
I'm very excited about this news that Twin Peaks is to return after 25 years. Can't wait. Can I just add the theme music sends chills up my spine.
Only found out about it a few years ago. Fell in love with it instantly. The 2 hour pilot was a bit uneven (let's face it so was the second half of the second season) but I knew this was something special. I'd like to think I'm one of those people that made Showtime say "Look, this show is still going to get views."
They recently released a full BluRay set with the entire series, the movie, and lots of special features. great stuff, but i'm not sure I want to see the series revived (and probably ruined).
David Lynch is directing it, so it'll at least be brand-name weirdness. I'm not sure if it's going to be an actual series, or a mini-series or what--I'm actually hoping it'll be a miniseries with a set endpoint. part of the reason the original series ended the way it did was because DL was annoyed with the fact that it was being cancelled after the first season. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a continuation of the story, rather than a complete reboot. but, I could of course be completely wrong--we'll find out! the worst part of rewatching the original series is that now I'm craving donuts...
I think that would honestly be the best treatment, else it risks be diluted and watered down. Good thing the miniseries format is enjoying a bit of a revival just now.
