I belong to a sewing forum. For a mercifully brief while, membersz included an unpleasant individual who went on a rant about (among other things) libraries being the enemies of writers since they made books available to people who would otherwise be forced to buy those books. She self-published specialized costuming books with a narrow audience and wanted royalties every time someone checked out one of her books.

Where they checked out often, being esoterically self-published?

Hey, let's do a library that sells drinks. The best of both worlds. We'll serve everything in giant, library appropriate goblets and chalice. And base the cocktail menu off the Dewey Decimal System. I figure with technology Dewey is probably dead, so it's classic a gag that accesses a modern theme.

TMW the author you follow on FB shares an author signing event with another author....
So you read a preview of the other authors book and want to read more of it....
But neither the libraries you are apart of own it....
And you dont want to have to wait for them to....
So you buy yourself a copy on Amazon

(Marketing gone right, i suppose )

TMW you type a word and grow suspicious as to whether or not you made it up (because it looks so ducking weird), but it's not underlined in red, but you KNOW it's not a real word (sorta)..... and google it.
it is in fact a real word.

(tldr: TMW a word has you questioning your sanity)

    "Cyclonic"

(I thought my brain was merging "cyclone" and "cyclic" o_O)

Yeah, it's a fairly specific word. That whole blanket Adjective X means "of or relating to" Noun Y puts a specific emphasis on the noun. So it's not of or relating to a storm, disaster, or catastrophe but the specifics of a cyclone that separate that form of disaster from other more common adjectives. Kind of like, that's a cool word but it drilling to far down?

TMW - you lay awake in bed mulling over a section of your WIP wondering how you can make it work when suddenly an idea springs to mind which makes it all fit. You lean across to grab your notebook and pen, nearly knocking over the bedside lamp in the process, to jot it down before it escapes your mind.

I love it when a plan comes together :D

And then you're up for hours writing feverishly. Or maybe only for a few minutes, but now you're too excited to get back to sleep. :blech:

TMW: you reflect on the last 34 years of your life, on all that's happened and you're wondering how the hell you managed to survive all that.

TMW you receive an Xmas card addressed to the previous owner of your house for the THIRD year in a row. One of those cards with multiple pics of the kids and dogs with coordinated outfits and all that wholesome, Rockwellian goodness that makes the writer in you think of all sorts of salacious scandals that could be vibing behind the smiles. But after three years I find myself reflecting on how the kids have grown and how the spirit of Xmas endures, and though I'll probably never meet these people, there's no way in hell their reality can live up to my imagination.

Kind of like how a few years ago my mom kept getting emailed personal life updates, potluck notifications, and photos of people connected with a black baptist church in Mississippi. She had no connection with the place but I liked reading the emails she showed me…I wonder how Brother Raymond is getting on.

I just wonder who endeavors to create the perfect Xmas card and then automails it to whomever they can, because clearly they don't know the recipient moved 4 years ago. It's like Xmas spam broadcasted to the widest possible audience.

TMW you encounter a blatant in-your-face racist over the phone

person: "my family is spreading rumors about me. they are saying that i like black people! I mean, if they treat me like a human, then i treat them like they are human, but still! they are tarnishing my reputation by saying that. -scoffs- how dare they say that. I'm not prejudice but this is my life they are messing with and my friends they are telling that to."
    me: -jaw drop-
(i didnt know what to say so i let her rant about how she didnt want to be associated with black people or want black people around. then i gave her the information she called about before her tirade.... and disconnected)
i mean, i know there are people like that out there. and i've dealt with micro aggressions and biases before. but this hit differently actually hearing someone say all of that to me.... and its like, im not even mad. im just really sad. i feel... sad

Unfortunately, yes. :( *offers JT a hug too* :)

By the way, JT ... your spoiler is a little confusing. I mean this bit:

So... is this person annoyed because
his family is angry that he likes black people?
    I think there's something missing here. :)

Was it a random library call? How the hell did the subject even come up?
