It is, and is fun. I am not much of a Bullet Hell shooter type gamer, but it's one of the few I like, thankfully I have an original SNES copy of it. (It was also an arcade game, clearly)
That moment when you are advising someone about the complexities of sniping, the transonic zone and all of that, and the reply you get is "I've used many sniper rifles in computer games so I know about them" What ? Apparently playing CoD modern warfare is exactly the same thing as being trained to do it for real, who knew ? I shall let the ministry of defence know so that they can save thousands. Give me strength
, I hope the guy was just being a smart ass. I played DOOM, I guess I am a bad ass Marine now, who can fight the spawns of Hell.
really sadly not I didn't actually say you can't fit a silencer to a sniper rifle by the way - I said you can't silence a supersonic round at target - but hey you can in one of his computer games so I must be completely wrong
"I'm a great piano player. I mean, I've never actually played one, but I've seen some Elton John videos. You just push the keys with your fingers."
Well, if that's the case, then I'm an expert swordsman. Swordswoman? Bc I've played Fable 1,2, and 3 tons. Oh, and my character in Skyrim is a badass archer, so ask me anything about archery, too. I've got this.
I've actually got a line in one of my books where Dusty has wound up flying a plane after the pilot has been injured "I'd been a passenger in enough army spotter planes back in the day to know the very basics, but that made me a pilot like going to a few gigs makes you a musician"
TMW... you learn of the most retarded of retard things. So, for those of you who do not know what this is, there is a thing called Speed Running, that's where someone buys a $60 game and tries to beat it as quickly as possible, rather then enjoy the game (I assume they do enjoy it, i'm just be hyperbolic) Anyways, personal I find Speed running to be some what lame, and uninteresting, mostly because I love taking my time in games. But there is a community for it, conventions and there is some serious competitions, etc. Now for the really retarded part, Speed Runners who cheat at a fucking Video Game, and I am not refering to just for personal, enjoyment or to have fun with viewers as say a modder would but in regards to actual competitions, etc. , anyways. They do this by altering game files, cheats, etc. and I am just dumbfounded by it. I love Video Games and this is why I never take them so seriously nor make them my career. Shit like this just justifies my stance on gaming as a career. ETA: than again the Witting World has Plagiarists, so why should the Gaming World be any different.
I actually enjoy speedruns. One of my favorite speedrunners is HeyZeusHeresToast who does Bloodborne. I don't know if by cheats you mean skips? 'Cause sure, in a way many of them are exploits (there are some in Bloodborne where you can make a boss totally inactive), but I don't see how they harm regular players unless, I dunno, it's some kind of pvp speedrunning...? But I think it's usually done offline. I also love watching Dark Souls speedruns cos there's some insane game skill (and mild autism) involved to do many of the skips successfully as they often go off the map to perform them plus they have to fight stupid hard bosses.
That's basically all there is to it. Oh, you do have to try and push them in the correct order. Other than that, you've got it.
I maybe a bit more harsh than I should be. No, I mean actually cheating. As in cheating that gets someone banned, such as altering game data files. Not, in game, (natural as it were) exploits a Speedrunner could do to shave some time off their record. I was just watching some videos on it.
A lot of speedrunners do so because it's a game that they love and they want to find a way to breathe life back into a game that's grown boring or stale for them. I've been, in what little free time I have these days, practicing speedrunning Dragon Age 2. My reasoning is simply because I've played the game normally so many times that it's boring, but I love it so much that I want to continue playing, so speedrunning is a very viable option. There are, of course, people who do exactly what you mentioned, and they're usually ostracized by the community.
Yeah, cheaters suck if they e.g. drop items that shouldn't be in your inventory and you go pick them up, which can subsequently get your ass banned for 'cheating'. Some cheaters (or hackers) are hilarious, though. I'm a Souls fangirl, so Malcolm Reynolds' DS hacks are friggin hilarious. Though, I admit, sometimes he can get other players banned or soft-banned, and that's not cool.
Again, just to clarify I am referring to people who cheat to be on the score board or in competitions. If it's just laid back, leisure (as it were) and they are forward with their fans, then of course it's fine. "Hey guys, I tweaked the speeds, let's see how this goes" . If someone is burnt out on a game as some of these speedrunners seem to be, than just be honest about it. I could understand and would go crazy if I had to solely focus on one game or game series. As for Speed Running itself, I get to easily distracted in games. and have to explore every SqFt of a map. I enjoy taking my time to much, and in some cases don't even complete teh game despite being near the end or in a position where I can, Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, are both unbeaten despite having everything, maxed out and could end the game at any time.
That moment when... ...someone tries to correct what you stated regarding North American archaeology and you have to relay the fact that you've been studying it the last year.
Look for Phase IV. I think it may be available on youtube, but I'm unsure of the copyright status, so.... Despite the poster, it's a very thought provoking movie.
I didn't to derail nor muck up the Feminism thread with this so, I brought it here. 1. @Cave Troll do you remember the title of the book? 2. Sorry, couldn't help it. I almost had a chance to buy this game, brand new. But I was do dumb to recognize satire and thought it was the dumbest thing ever. . Only if I had an original copy of it. Well at least I have Crusader No Remorse & No Regret.
