I liked having the typical American breakfast made for me ALL THE TIME. That is awesome. I just don't like the typical American breakfast pancakes that much. I don't dislike them... they're just topped by other breakfast foods. Most of the time.
TMW...well, we'll get to it. I saw a drink recipe in the WaPo for a "quarantini." I'm always up for trying something new, let's see what it is: 1.5 oz of your favorite gin or vodka 0.5 oz Lillet Blanc 1 dash Regan’s Orange Bitters Stir and strain with a lemon twist Now for the annotated results: 1.5 oz of your favorite gin or vodka: Got both options, great! 0.5 oz Lillet Blanc: What's that? 1 dash Regan’s Orange Bitters: Is that different from Angostura bitters? Cuz that's the only kind we have here Stir and strain with a lemon twist: Nope, supermarket is closed already So, TMW it's a bottle of Bombay Sapphire, bottoms up!
Hell yeah! Used to buy rounds of this at bars for me and my friends. The wake up call, that knocks you out.
I confess that I have never actually drunk a martini either... more of a beer cocktail me (you splash some beer in the bottom of a large, tall glass, then fill it up with beer)
Lillet is a French liquer mostly made from fortified wine. Mostly used for vespers as a sweetner. It's ghettocas fuck and tastes like shit. A martini is anything served in a martini glass these days. "Straight up" technically means chilled and served in a martini glass. "Neat" is room temperature served straight up, but not "straight up" like a described previously. You order a whiskey straight up, you will get it served chilled in a martini glass. You order it neat, it comes room temperature in a rocks glass with nothing else.
I didn't know this! Thank you. I meant the straight up as more "straight up whiskey," because I don't really like much else when it comes to alcohol. Now when the bars open up again, I'll know not to say "straight up" and look like a fool. Oh! I also like Guinness... I think. I don't go out much for drinking. I prefer it in the comfort of my own company.
TMW you consume so much sugary food that you feel sick. Followed by TMW you conclude that you should know better at your age.
I have no idea. I know nothing about it, but I am intrigued! I also drink Woodchuck from the tap if I'm at a bar. It's gross from a bottle.
I guess I'll hazard it and see what it is like. ETA Update: It is an amber that tastes like a hoppy Guinness. Not bad, just a little different from the Stout.
They say the best Guinness is at the original Irish brewery in Dublin. Though on account of me not being a drinker, I can't vouch for the above claim.
I've had it. Didn't notice a huge difference, but I'm only an occasional Guinness drinker so the subtleties were probably lost on me. TBH I honestly use Guinness mostly for stew, chili, and curry. Awesome flavors there.
That moment when you're reading what seems like an authoritative source on a controversial issue (nope, not going to say which one) and suddenly the author drops a major shibboleth-bomb. Guess I can remove that from my list of impartial pages.
