Amazon Prime Video listings will sometimes put the same movie next to itself in the "Suggested Videos" screen. Like, if I wasn't interested in watching Edge of Tomorrow, maybe I'd consider watching Edge of Tomorrow instead...

Roku has taken to asking me during the first five seconds of a movie whether I would like to watch it from the beginning instead.

^ In a related note, I was looking at the Look Inside on a couple of books on Amazon today, and each time I started reading it would all jump down because something had just loaded up above it. I had to scroll down, find my place, and then it happened again. Like 3 or 4 times. I finally scrolled up to see what the hell kept appearing that was causing this, and there's some kind of huge smiley faces staring at me up there at the top, one happy and one sad, and they want me to click one if I like the book and one if I don't, so they can gather data on what kind of books to suggest for me.

Here's an idea—instead, how about you actually let me read the book I want to read? that might put a real smile on my real face. There were a couple of other things that had popped up, I don't recall what they were, but more of the same—social-media style intrusions that I can definitely do without. What's next, that stuff starts showing up in eBooks I download? At least there's no way they can do that to actual paper books. Can they?

That moment when you see an animated GIF on real paper, bend over and kiss your ass goodbye, because everything we've worked for is over.

Sounds like the punchline to a bad joke... "What do alligators use to talk to each other......."

Allophones are small variations of a word (sometimes larger ones but most English ones are smaller) that aren't distinguished in a language. So they never differentiate words and aren't consciously thought of as a phoneme (a recognised distinct sound).
For example T is pronounced slightly differently in "tin" than in "stop" but this is rarely called attention to.
In contrast, S is sometimes a z sound but this difference is not allophonic because z is also a recognised phoneme seperate from the related s sound. Sync and zinc are distinguished by them, even though they could both be spelled sinc, the spelling just makes it easier.
The Superman metaphor is that Superman is sometimes Superman, when he needs to do heroing, and sometimes Clark Kent, when he is at his job. It depends on context. But they are both still the same person.

I see Can Get Back, repeated. A couple more words I can't make out. Above it I think it says Early Movie.

I noticed if I shrink the font size down a couple of clicks there's an inkwell and feather pen off the right edge of the banner as well. But then the font's to small to read.

I think it says I can't get back in the... something. Maybe swing or sewer. Anyway, someone knows what it says because someone put it there.

When I'm standing outside waiting to be called into the shop when I hear the oversized fart can hanging off an early 2000s Vauxhall Corsa swing round the corner. Every panel on the car was a different colour and the tyres looked like a combo of spares and barely legals.

Driven by a worn looking 40 something year old wearing a beanie with a cigarette wedged between his lips as Fred Durst shouted

    " CHOCOLAAATE STARRRRFIIIISH"

From the stereo as the car continued to fart down the road.

    Couldn't help but laugh.

Whatever gets you through your day man.

That moment when you realise the love triangle isn't working so you solve the problem by demoting the unnecessary person to the lowly rank of Redshirt.

(NOT the WIP with the injury prone protagonist, this is a different one.)
