Starbucks is in the mall kilometers away. It's a middle of a pandemic and I am afraid of going outside. (but I want to go there, but-)
The proper way to make a biscuit is to use Bisquick and add more butter. Without butter, it’s just a scone.
Grand’s biscuits are really good, and easy. They taste fine. A little red-eye gravy and some country ham and you’re good to go.
TMW you start transferring clothing from one dresser to another and you realize how many t-shirts and other clothes you own, and you remember a quotation by Lenny Bruce, "Anyone who has two shirts when someone has none is not a christian." And yet you keep finding reasons to keep most of them, for sentimental reasons or because you just might one day want to wear it again.
The proper way to make a biscuit is to peel off the outer wrapper then whack the tube on the edge of the counter... I know they're not really cooking, but Lord I miss those biscuits/rolls/croissants/cookies in a tube.
Funny how the things we grow up with end up tasting better than the "real" thing, like those biscuits, and Kraft mac and cheese from the box. Even that simple green bean casserole made with Campbell's cream of mushroom soup.
Shit, man. That quote just hit me like a boulder. The way I cope sometimes is by saying 'okay, well, there's no one I can help directly or indirectly right now (even all the charity shops are shut!), but what I will do is wear the hell out of these shirts, and love them and take care of them, and take pride in them, on behalf of everyone who never got to wear a shirt, or those who never had the choice'. Your own confidence and love (and self-love) can be a gift to other people if they're able to see it.
TMW you finally have sorted your oncoming online events and you open Twitter and find another interesting one taking place today (or rather tommorow because it starts at 12 am). So you grab your box of choclate and make yourself comfortable for the remaining waiting time. I really, really like this form of event, my first was a Q&A after a Torchwood watch along and it was like everyone was in your livingroom. Nowadays it's mostly booktalks, and if they weren't online I couldn't attend because they almost all take place in the USA (and therefore are always close to midnight at least for me). I really hope they stay popular even after Covid.
I think it was about a year ago, April or May? Edit: It was April, I've found the videos on youtube .
They work well in the weather here because it's reasonably warm and decent rain what with Sydney Harbour. May not work so well were you are, depending on the weather. Also comes with a few downsides; male mosquitoes like mango and the female mosquitoes (the bloodsuckers) follow, and although cute the flying foxes (big arse bat) do make a bit of a mess sometimes when they get at it. My favourite (other than all the animals which are cool, and the fruit which is quite occasional but convenient) is the big leaves are aromatic. They actually smell like mango fruit. So overall, I would recommend it. We have an acacia which drops a bajillion little needles and seed pods and we are thinking of replacing of that one because it more of a nuisance. So the mango does rank well against other trees.
lol yeah there's no way it would survive here. I'm in plant hardiness zone 6b, looks like they only do well in zones 10 and up.
OH MY FUCKING GOD, IS THAT A BUSH BABY??? (TMW Oscar leigh has got me dropping f-bombs over a friggen critter) I literally have a stuffed animal that looks just like that and its my favorite in my whole collection!!
Brushtail possum. Considerably larger animal. Bush baby are small African primates. Brushtails are large Australian marsupials. This shot was taken from the ground and it was near the top of the mango tree, which is a fairly large tree. It's zoomed which loses that perspective, but this thing is bigger than your average cat. Brushtails will fight a cat.
TMW you're on a roll, got the bridge mounted, new pickups wired and soldered correctly, and then find out that the holes for the wiring were bored to small.
TMW you revisit an old short story and realize that it actually might be the best thing you've ever written and obsessively edit it for weeks and ignore school work.
