I thought I'd share one of my more disturbing and confusing dreams i had around a year ago. It wasn't very long but it was indeed strange to say the least. I was in the grounds of a very old manor house, it was extremely run down and imposing to look at. It seemed to be made out of very heavy old rock (much like slate) with a thatched roof. The gardens around it were overgrown and divided in no real order by flat stone walls which were also in a state of disrepair. Surrounding the house and garden was a small forest that encircled the grounds. At the start of the dream i was just wondering around the gardens, fumbling through the wild grass with my eyes closed. Next thing i know I'm made aware of a figure in the woods. They were in dark robes and hooded. I have no idea who they were or what they wanted but i knew they were bad news. The way they moved was disturbing in itself. This person/thing didn't walk or run but rather tip toed around much like a string puppet. They tip toed around the woods looking for me but i hid behind sections of the wall and the house itself. This went on for a long time but the figure never left the boundary of the woods. After this came the most unnerving part. The figure i assume got tired of not being able to find/capture me and left leaving me by myself in the overgrown gardens again. I kneel down next one of the walls and clear the grass to reveal a tombstone, there is nothing written on it and it is not embedded in the ground. I pull it out of the grass, curl up around it and simply fall asleep (at least i think i fell asleep). To this day i still have no idea what that meant. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.
I remember two from last night. 1) This is a yet another save the fishies dream. I was cleaning like a garage or some storage room. I found an aquarium with only an inch or so of water at the bottom. It had a few panda cats (bottom feeders). I filled the tank up the rests of the way with water, and more and more fish appeared. Most of them were more panda cats. I remember thinking that the crappy water conditions must have somehow been good for breeding. When I looked closer, there were other species of fish in there too. This dream was different from most of my save the fishies dreams because I actually WAS able to help them. 2) I dreamt that the cast of Midsummer Night's Dream was getting back together for another performance only I couldn't find the script and had forgotten all my lines in the months since we did the show. In the dream, I was looking everywhere for the script or a copy of the play. I knew I had all these different books that had the play in there. I just couldn't find any of them, and we were running late getting to the park for the show. I was freaking out because I didn't remember anything from the show and wasn't at all ready.
I had a couple again last night. They are fading a bit now. 1.) I was in college. One of my professors sent me to admin to ask a question for him. There was a big crowd of people there. In the crowd after asking the question to whoever I was supposed to ask, I saw someone I knew in the crowd. She was another professor. Older than me but beautiful. We were very happy to see each other. We decided to get lunch. Then the dream either jumps in time or I am forgetting a section, but next I was waking up in her place. She was gone. There were ingredients out to make cookies...like she had started and had to leave suddenly. I decided to finish making the cookies to surprise her when she got back. I heated the over and put the cookies in for 17 minutes (exactly..don't remember why 17 exaclty..but ok). Anyway...I fell asleep again. When I woke up, I had no idea how long the cookies had been in there. She was not home, probably why I woke up. I told her I though I had burned the cookies. She took them out of the over. The tops were overdone, but they didn't look THAT bad. We had a great laugh and I felt really close to her. 2) I was a servant/slave/prisoner or someone. I wasn't alone. There was a group of us. We had a system for communicating without the wrong people knowing what we were doing. One thing we had was a glass eye. Not like a real eye sized one..it is was like a crystal ball. Anyway, we knew that we were going to be inspected, so I took a bunch of contraband outside and buried it. It was a well-used spot for this purpose. The last person had covered the area over with large rocks. I was mad because it a) made it more difficult to bury stuff, but b) looked unnatural and I though drew attention to the secret spot. Anyway, I buried the glass eye. When I got back, one of my peers was mad at me for burying the eye. It was our warning sign that the others needed to be on the lookout. I argued that it was obvious and contraband and we would all get in trouble if found. I ended up going out to the garage/basement where my bed was,,,all surrounded by cardboard boxes to mark off my area. 3) I was in the greenroom at the theater. Someone was playing a recording of a show...either another show or a recording of a previous performance. It was really loud. I had to find the source and shut it off so the audience wouldn't hear. There was some other stuff in this one, but I honestly don't remember.
(am It he only one who remembers dreams around here?) Last night I dreamt that I was at some sort of festival/flea market. There were lots of booths and vendors and things. At one end...there was an enclosure of animalstters, seals...aquatic mammals. Nearby, there was a stand giving out orange and black tennis balls (don't ask me why the Halloween colors). Some kids started throwing the balls into the enclosure for the animals to play with. An otter got one and did the whole lying on back chewing on it thing. It chewed the ball open and then got it stuck over it's muzzle. (dream otter had a much longer snout than real ones whose faces are actually pretty flat). It was freaking out, in distress. I was diving and swimming frantically trying to get it off, but its efforts only got it more stuck. I was calling for someone to help it..but no one was listening.
I remember my dreams almost every night; they just aren't the kind of thing I like to tell most people. They're all extremely macabre.
My dreams are usually light. I have a lot of freaky dreams, but not nightmares. I do, however, have a hard time remembering them all. My dream last night was that I told people that I got into Harvard. (This is most likely because I was talking with a friend who is returning from Harvard for the holidays last night, and Yale decisions were announced.) Anyway, I was telling people that, but the problem was, I was still the same me as I am in real life. No chance would I get in, right? And people knew it, but I couldnt stop telling people... Eventually, I altered my story and said that I was talking a summer course at Harvard, not actually undergraduate study. Around that time, another friend from a state college arrived back from the holidays (in my dream), showed up in one of my classes and began yelling about what a horrible person I am. Peculiar. I found the dream interesting because I actually am fascinated with the ideas of truth and not truth, and what exactly they mean, especially from a writer's perspective. I've been working on what I am hoping will be a completed and bound novel about the same concept, actually. From a psychological standpoint (I want to be a psychiatrist one day), why some people are "compulsive liars" is something I also find curious. It was interesting to be in the liar's shoes.
I have nightmares just about everynight since I can remember. I actually didn't know it wasn't normal to be having suck wicked dreams every night until I was about 10. Some dreams are worse than others but I can't remember a single happy, or neutral dream.
That's horrible! I have good dreams all the time... a bit weird most of the times, but never nightmares. Last nightmare I remember was yeeeeeears ago.
-sigh- I'm used to it by now. Having to see stuff like that can be a little distressful but its all good.
I was attending a play. It was in a gym...the small gym at the elementary school I went to to be exact...it was the middle of the night...like 2am...I had to work the next day...but I was watching this play...one of our church people was in it...I think that is why I was there...I could see the play..but I couldn't understand a word of what htey were saying...I was getting SO tired I wanted to g home...But I had to stay and watch the play
I was outside in a garden in winter. There was an animal giving birth. The babies were born in sacks. The mother was ignoring the babies and just basically crapping out more. I knew if they didn't get out of the sacks they would die. So, I went over and started freeing the babies and rubbing them warm trying to save them. Once I got them out of the sacks..I discovered they were kittens. They quickly recovered and I took them inside. Almost right away they began to play and romp and take over the house. Even in my dream I knew this was unrealistic as kittens don't even open their eyes for like a week after birth. But they were immediately at least 6 weeks old. I was trying to find them all in the house, but they kept running off and hiding. I didn't even know how many of them there were. I just kept finding them and losing them again in the house.
I had this freaky dream that I gave birth to two twin boys, but no one knew that I was pregnant except one of my friends so I spent the entire time trying to find someone to give me carseats so I could take them home, which was really scary because I hadn't told my mom either, who was going to go ballistic. Freaky dream.
I told my psych teacher that I only had dreams when I was really stressed about something. I guess that's when I'm mania, because I've been all lover the place because I dream a lot more when I'm depressed. I'm so exhausted, that I have crazy mixed up dreams. Sadly, it never makes it way into my writing. Or perhaps that's a good thing
I've been having some incredibly weird and epic dreams lately. Last night I had two dreams. The second isn't worth writing down, but the first is. That dream was almost like a cohesive story. There was this enormous, misted valley, surrounded by snow-topped mountains and filled with green underbrush. There was a cave, and out of this cave came a creature with, what seemed like, extremely-muscular horse legs, a muscular human torso and arms, and a goat-head. He was holding a stick. The sun peeked over the edge of the mountains and you could see it shine down into the valley, bathing everything in gold and seeming to bring the world to life. The creature looked at it. There was a lot more to this dream, but I can't remember it.
Really weird dream/nightmare (the line blurs) last night. I was in some weird place, and a strange dude informed me that I'd have to commit some sort of immoral act to go free. I'd be awarded with money and power on my release according to the severity of the crime. He led me past each type of sinner - firstly liars, with rags and chains but perfect eloquence - secondly, embezzlers, with vast amounts of wealth but a wide-eyed, horrified expression - and lastly, murderers. These were the worst; they were basically gibbering wrecks, insane and damned, but wealthy beyond belief. I was briefly pushed onto a train where a man behind a screen asked me which crime I'd choose to perform. My mind still focused on the horror of the murderers, I blurted out 'murder' without thinking. Immediately I tried to take it back, but I was ignored. Then it came - visions of murder, somehow condensed into a brief moment, and breaking down crying; the horrible guilt, the inhumanity. I suffered a nervous breakdown in my dreams, frothing from the mouth and biting my tongue. It was abominable. I became damned, and understood what killing another person really meant; I wanted death, but I was given wealth and power. ...a bit heavy.
I dreamt that I was standing in a room staring at a cobra that was in a glass tank. As I stared at it, the snake gradually became so frenzied that its eyes popped out (in that cartoon-ish way, like when Daffy Duck sees jewels or something) and it was actually suspended in mid-air. I hid when it escaped from its tank and it attacked its owner instead of me. I'm convinced this is symbolic of something important. XD
I had a dream last night that I had a baby. I took it (don't remember if it was a him or her) to someone's house to be babysat while I went somewhere, and then waaaaaay later in the dream, I suddenly remembered that I had a baby, and that it had been over at the babysitter's house for days. I immediately started panicking and beating myself up, because who the hell forgets that they have a baby?? But try as I might, I couldn't make it back to the babysitter's house. I was afraid that the person was going to steal my baby if I left it at their house for too long. And then I woke up.
I had a horrible nightmare last night. I dreamt I was going to the movie theater with some buddies who I no longer speak to in real life, and I was mesmerized by ratio of green gummy bears to red ones. Anyway, we went into the theatre, and it wsa a horror film. I cant stand horror films. I usually vomit or at least have nightmares for months. I havent seen a scary film all the way through since Saw the original in 2006. Anyway, so it was this horrible film, and in it, the people were just zombies, but they were also shadows, and they killed you by gouging out your eyes. Anyway, so I woke up this morning around 7AM because my mom was shuffling around downstairs. I wasnt quite all-the-way awake, still dreaming. So all the sounds she was making, I thought they were the shadow zombies in my room! I tried so hard to scream (I'm awake now, not dreaming), but no sound came out and I was absolutely frozen. I couldnt move. Oh my gosh, it was the most scared I've ever been.
I was running down a long hallway, the sound of heavy machinery all around, and I couldn't see very far as there was a thick black fog that sometimes flashed bright colours randomly. This hallway was so large that I could not see anything holding the roof above me, no walls, or pillars or anything; it was just a vast tiled space. Soon I stopped dead in my tracks (I have no control over my faculties in my dreams) and span around twice, then 'fell' into the floor, and then I awoke.
I keep having dreams about the Packer games. Not future, just replays of the past ones. It's weird. Last night was a replay of the Bears' game-winning catch against the Vikings, though. Probably because I watched that game before I fell asleep.
A couple weeks ago I had quite a strange dream What I can remember is that I was at the track/football field at school with some people and one of my friends said we couldn't run the mile here; that we had to go to florida to do it which i thought was stupid because it's much hotter there but they dragged me anyways. So we go to the airport where I use this coupon for 2 free movie tickets (my mom and I actually had one) to buy plane tickets and I felt really bad because not only was I not telling my parents thart I was going to Florida, but I was also using the coupon my mom and I were going to use for a movie to go to Florida. Oh and we were all talking in french when we got to Florida and my old teacher and some other kids where there and he was pointing out our good french to them.... it 'twas very strange
I had a very weird dream the other night. I only remember a part of it now, but it really stuck in my head. I was driving down the hill from my parents house in my minivan, it was icy and snowy (just like it is now) and all of a sudden the engine cuts out, all of the lights go out (it was dark) and I see something that looks like a shooting star flying over head and heading off to the west (towards upstate NY.) My van was sliding down the hill and I pulled the e-break to get it to stop at the bottom of the hill. I was freaking out and panicing, wanting to get out of the car, but it was cold and dark and I'm kind of scared of the dark. But then I was also scared that what had flown over head was a nuke and that we were all going to blown to pieces in a matter of seconds. Then I woke up. Wasn't a happy dream. I've had zombie dreams for the last two nights cause I reading a zombie book. Typical for me though.
