You'v e seen what? Two minutes of the eleventh Doctor? And you are judging him based on that? Timelords can only regenerate twelve times. It's a limitation of te species. However, the Master has already managed to pass that number. He was on his thirteenth, looking like an animated corpse, back in the Tom Baker(?) days. So there are ways around it, and maybe it isn't even considered canon any more.
It'll take time for me to get used to the 11th doctor. I discovered Dr. Who in the middle of the 10th doctor's adventures, so that's all it's been in my head as of yet. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get used to the new guy.
*wild applause* Thank you for saying this. Personally, I'm optimistic about him. Whatever happens I'm sure this won't be a RUINED FOREVER moment.
Well, Colin Baker (7th Doctor) was. Bit he was not well liked -- too abrasive. I found him refreshingly different, though. The sixth doctor (Peter Davison) was rather humorless.
I try to watch all the way back to Davidson but find the production so under developed and 'clunky' I dunno, not a fan of the old stuff - it played on the ignorance of science. 'Reverse the Polarity of the neutron flow!'
Well, some of the earlier doctors were made during the time where we were kinda on the stupid side in regards to science.
Just so long as the new Doctor is a good foil for The Master, I don't particularly care how good/bad an actor portrays him. The Master is the best damn character in that series.
No it is not true. In theory there can be 11 Doctors as each Time-Lord can only have ten regenerations. But The Doctor might be different because when Rose looked into the heart of the TARDIS, The Doctor took all the 'Doctorness' out of her, so that might have given him an extra regeneration or so. EDIT: I also just remembered that Donna also became a Doctor, and The Doctor took all the 'Doctorness' out of her as well.
It could be an interesting storyline when he comes to the last doctor. The Master could regenerate more than 12 times, through the taking of another's life. Would the doctor be afraid of death enough to do that?
My bad. My mum has always told me that each Time-Lord has 10 regenerations, but I just looked it up and it seems you two are right. Sorry.
So.... is that the last of the Timelords, forever, or do we get another summon from the Master, is The Doctor the only Timelord left?
I'm sure we'll see more timelords. It's far too interesting a storyline to leave untouched. If the Master survived, we could see some more of the old timelords in the future.
Thats what interests me most about the Master, I'm of the understanding that he can be summoned at any point, meaning he'll never die/is already dead? So yeah I'm sure he'll be around under Smith. I didn't enjoy the introduction of Smith but thats probably because it was David's episode, I wasn't quite ready for his exit as I'm sure we all were, but looking back on it I think he'll be a hit. Did anyone else think he was a bit nervous though? In some way I'm also glad to see Davis go as well, he'll always be remembered as the man who revived the show but I think he needed to let the show evolve from his plots and charecters, with Steven Moffat I can see more emotion and in-depth adventure, his episodes are my favourite episodes thus far. I can't wait to see it. Also, does anyone know why they only did four episodes this year as opposed to a series? I hope it was to save some cash and give us spectacular shows under Smith.
I think it is something to do with David wanting a change in Career and not having time to do a whole series because this year, as well as filming the four episodes, he has also filmed St Trinians 2.
Which was amazing. Yes, it's a US produced show but so far they're only doing a pilot, then they will see how that is recieved.
