The First World Whinging Thread

I thought you were management, and just sat back in your leather office chair, cooking the books and occasionally delegating tasks to your minions.

 

I’m going to start putting the cold callers on hold, and when I eventually relent, I’ll pick up the phone and ask what they want, now that I’ve wasted as much of their time as they have of mine.

 

Come Thursday or so, I start checking the TV listings to see what games will be on that weekend. Now, thanks to the virus (and the NFL and NCAA's odd reaction to it) we have to wait almost until game time to see if it will be played or not.

 

Mom: Would you like a glass of wine with dinner?
Me: Yeah, sure.
Mom: Okay, you'll have to go to the store and buy some.

This is possibly the first-world whingiest of whinges, but I'm on vacation now. However, having spent the last year working from home at a job that allowed me a lot of time flexibility so long as the work got done on time, it's just... nothing. Worse than nothing as there's nothing to do. I know I should be writing, but it's just not coming out. I'm just sitting at home like I have been since Christmas Day 2019 (okay, I did get back to the States in February of 2020. If I hadn't I would probably really be going nuts).

Try being retired and on endless* vacation and nowhere to go, and the writing just won't come.

*Okay, there is that end to it, but let's not go there. Yet.

 

It's not too late to take up basket weaving or competitive pistol shooting.

Not a chance, but I’m sure there are Glock fanboys out there who would.

 

I'm a 1911 man myself, although when I feel that's a little too modern I've got a C-96 as well .

 

My wife was watching me clean some guns after a trip to the range and said I had a problem when comes to guns. I told her she was right, I don’t have a 1911.

 

I bought mine on the morning of my 21st birthday.

 

It won two world wars you know, all by itself.

 

I can’t afford the one I want, not in this climate.

Good point. I think I could have made a whinier, more tone-deaf, self-centered, self-pitying post, but I'd have to really work at it. What do I have to seriously complain about in this COVID-wracked orange-man haunted world? Being warm, well-fed, and secure? How awful is that?

 

I've been working all weekend, so I took a day off today and slept in till noon. Now I only have half an actual day off

 

If you make it so people can only watch your streaming service through Amazon Prime... why are you still showing a minute+ of ads?

 

They’re out there, if you know where to look, and you’re willing to pay for it. I’m just not willing to pay double.
