Mirror's Edge was okay the first time around. I couldn't find any reason to play through it again, though. I'm just glad I didn't buy it. Also, I'm the only one in the house who can play it without getting sick. :p

Mirror's Edge is a good renter but I wouldn't really recomend buying it.
It's supposed to be a free running game but it seems a tad bit scripted and you don't have full freedom to pick your path which IMHO makes the game lose some of it's charm.
But it's still pretty good overall.

I just rented Mirror's Edge the other day so I found it interesting that people happen to be discussing it. I beat the second to last level just before having to come to work tonight, so I'll have a more complete thought when I'm finished, but I think it's been a very enjoyable game. Much better than I expected as I am usually a hater of all things EA.

I often feel that the combat situations don't have a real place in the game. Being chased is fine, and the run and jump puzzles are the heart of the enjoyment, but the rare times when you are placed in a room and have to fight your way out stifle the experience, especially as I'm going for the "don't shoot anybody" achievement. Each level has had progressively more of this which leads me to dread the final stage.

    Hate to ask this ...

but what do you think about Call of Duty. I played this game with my daughter on Wii but it was hard to keep my gun from pointing upper wards also hard to point but overall I thought it was a good game. I don't know I thought it was a ok and what about Tomb Raider on Wii??

Got Resident Evil 5 the other day... I haven't got very far, so my initial assessment is tentative, but I haven't come across anything that's surprised or overly impressed me yet (lots of scenery looks very familiar, despite the new setting, as do the mutations of the 'zombies' - couple of minor flaws in the way ammo can/can't be shared with partner...) Despite that, it's just as much fun as they ever are.

I can't remember which level it was, but I found one level near the end to be almost impossible to do without using a weapon. Trying to go down a building while enemies are coming up the same way? Not too fun for a pacifist. Even when I used a weapon, I couldn't find the ammo counter.

I like RE5. My complaints are minor and most revolve around the Inventory System and those god damn ludicrous quick time events. I don't mind them but don't make them a "do it NOW or I the almighty game will KILL YOU" event that is completely unforgiving...

Correction: "Press X in .5 seconds to not die. OOPS Too late!" Damn those pissed me off. I'm glad there are only a few of them and once you've done them once or twice they're pretty mundane wastes of time, but god damn the first few times pissed me off XD.

It looks cool, but I think it's too good to be true. That's gonna take a lot of power in the computers that run the program...

It's essentially Steam imo. It sounds like steam anyway. I could see it doing well. But at the same time I can see a lot of people unwilling to go for it. Sometimes having the actual game disk is like actually having a copy of the book or the movie. It just isn't the same otherwise.

So... decided to play FF7 again, and I must say that the game is about a million times better than I remember! I now realize that the first few times I played it, I must have been too young or too dumb to catch all the amazingness! I had worried that the older graphics might ruin it, but no! I'm finding they add character to the game and are somewhat endearing, and actually not all that bad considering.

Anyways... I also just finished FF12. Great game, huge re play value, mostly because it's so long you don't remember how it started by the time you finish! I was just over 124 hours, and that was me playing mostly just for storyline, like I always do the first play. I imagine going back and doing all the side quests will add another dozen hours! :D

I need to get myself a copy of FFVII, I've never played it, and I feel that I should.

haha, im replaying ff8 (replayed ff7 a few months back) I agree completely.

FFXll, has no replay value at all IMO. After playing 7/8 i thought 12 has no REAL story. (The game had no challenge as well IMO). Also i think if you take the quests away from 12 you really dont have a long game at all (Maybe im just picky i don't know).

I'm actually playing VII right now. :) It's nice to replay through it. Trying to beef up Barret because there is a way you can glitch the game and kill Emerald in one hit with Barret and Vincent. Never tried it, but I wanna. lol - My copy of VII was a limited edition and is the original game. Looking at how much it goes for on ebay, you're hitting up at 400+ for the same exact game I have. Crazy stuff.

XII was interesting, but I agree, not worth playing once beaten. However, Ashelia and Balthier were my fav, and the character models of those two, imo, were amazing.

Never was a huge fan of VIII, though some of the fights and a bit of the story was great. IX..........skipping what I have to say about that.

I actually want to try XI, but I'm not sure if it will work on my Mac. Anyone know?

In FF XII, I consider the Hunts to be part of the storyline as they are tied right in. I guess that's why it took me so long to finish. I found the storyline to be really political and half the time I didn't know what was happening (not unusual for me, it seems) but I found it to be a fun game to play overall, if not particularly deep. Not a fan of the ending though. But I love the new battle system. And the characters are great. :)

I saw a copy of FF VII for PS2 on sale at the movie rental place for $15. I almost bought it, because I only have it for PS. But I don't think you'd come across a deal like that very often. I see the older games selling for $70-100 in stores like EB Games. Actually I think I'll buy it anyway if it's still there...

Do you think they would ever consider remaking some of those older games? Updating graphics and whatnot? I imagine it'd be a pretty touchy subject, with the near cult followings some games have.

They've been doing remakes of some of the older games for a few years now. I think they've remade all of I-VI at least once at this point (I-V i think have all been remade a third time and re-released these past few years on DS and Gameboy).

There have been rumors going around about FFVII and FFVIII remakes for years but until Square actually says they're doing it I'm not putting much stock in any of those (and I'm big on the rumor mill btw). All the rumors as far as I see it come from nothing but crazed fanfolk and there's been little or nothing to support actual remakes being in production. What many people assumed to be proof of an FFVII remake turned out to be nothing more than Advent Children, and again when it looked like there'd be a remake it turned out to be Crisis Core. It's possible with the popularity of the games that they might do a remake but it might be awhile cause I think all of Square's teams that make the series (teams 1-4) are busy on other projects at the moment; The three FFXIII's, and two Kingdom Hearts games I know are being made.

On a side note: I highly suggest catching a view of the FFXIII Versus HD Trailer. You can really see the effect the Kingdom Hearts team has had on the game visual and cinematic style.

Guess I'm way out of the loop... Ah well. Learn something new everyday. I will have to look into those remakes.

Saw FF IV yesterday. I must be totally out to lunch to have missed them all this time. I owe you one lordofhats for showing me the light. Now to save up and buy a DS. Might as well get those Brain Age games while I'm at it, eh?

I've never heard of Civ 3. I must be losing my grip on reality. I'm just going to sit in my corner now...
