The Final Fantasy series is WAY over hypered in general Apart from Tactics, which is under valued in my opninion. As much as i liked Vll and Vlll, they have been going downhill since Vl. FFXlll is nice to look at, but after playing it myself i really can't see myself picking it up to finish if off again no time soon. I'm not even sure why i'ts called an RPG anymore, mahybe because i'm getting more convinced on western RPGS that let you play, rather than watch. (The first few hours in FF Xlll is just bull****)
Thats kind of my feeling too. Tactics is awesome. I also like The Crystal Chronicles shoot-off just cause I like the stategy implemented in it.
Oh yeah, Tactics is easily in my top two games ever. It's neck and neck with Star Wars KOTOR, and whichever one I'm playing at the time tends to be my favorite. I also love FFV and I really like FFVI but probably not as much. Also, I own three different version of FFIV (PSX, GBA, and DS) which I think might be sad, but I'm not sure. But yeah, about the music. FFT's music is exactly what I'm talking about. It perfectly sets the mood for whatever situation and always sounds beautiful. At the same time, It never tries to draw attention away from the gameplay (the gameplay being the best thing about FFT, IMO). I haven't played FFTA2, but I can say that FFTA, while fun in it's own way, really pales in comparison to FFT in virtually every category (not the least of which is the music). The games I like them most tend to be ones that allow the player to make decisions that effect the gameplay, which is why FFT beats FFTA in my book, since you can customize your characters however you want from the very beginning, while FFTA makes you wait for the right equipment, which is usually given out at random for completing missions. And yep, my name is very much inspired by FFIV. Now that my secret is out I feel like such a dork for using a video game character for my screen name on a writing forum. Oh well, I guess I'm a dork . Regarding FFVII: Way over hyped, but still pretty darn good. Sometimes video game music can be so good that I want to listen to it outside of the game, but I'm pretty sure only people who have experienced the game can truly appreciate it.
Tactics and Chrono Trigger are my tied for the top picks. Both have great gameplay, story-line and music ^^ and if it makes you feel any better, I have four versions of CT (SNES, DS, PS, and a Spanish ROM for ZSNES) Tactics is probably some of my favourite music, though the older Castlevania games have killer tracks as well. and Yeah FFT has such great gameplay, and I really love the characters. Yeah FFTA and A2 are fun but shallow and the Music is pretty crappy. They don't seem as well thought out, even though I can appreciate some of the new factors of the games. Yes, FFT is awesome in the fact you can make all your people whatever you want basically. It's got awesome replay value. Of course you're a dork ;p anyone who posts in this thread is I listen to game music all the time. OverClockedRemix baybeh!
Speaking of Chrono games, I think I am the only person I know that enjoyed Chrono Cross more than Chrono Trigger.
I've been playing Beatles Rock Band practically nonstop over the past week. Somebody help me. It's too addicting.
God i love when you don't play decent released games for a few years, than have money. Got about ten 360 games for under $150 AUD (Gears1/2, Ghost recon 1/2, AC, left for dead, Need for speed shift, grid, Dead Space, Half life Orange box (played it yes, but i want to play it on the 60 inch plasma). Sad thing is, i probably want get the chance to have a run for another month.
Playing through Metro 2033 at the moment. I must say- the atmosphere is top-notch! So far it's a bit too linear for my taste, but it's an engaging story nonetheless.
I just sold my Wii and got a 360. I'm so happy I did! The Wii just doesn't have any serious games I can enjoy. Even Red Steel and other games like that are just trying top hard, in my opinion. I just started playing Mirror's Edge and I LOVE IT!
I'm pretty excited for New Vegas. I loved Fallout 3, so hopefully this one turns out to be just as good.
Love my Forza 3 (though i had number 2 as well, so it's a little repetetive. Looks great on 1080p though.) Saw Mirrors Edge selling for $4 down the local the other day. Didn't want it still.
New Vegas is one of my most anticipated games right now. The gameplay of Fallout plus the writing of Obsidian (the best in the business, check out KOTOR II or Mask of the Betrayer) could equal one fantastic game. It might even be enough to get me out of my run of playing only Madden and Topspin.
Thanks to the wonderful modding community, I don't think I can ever play a vanilla installation of Fallout 3 ever again. Same goes for Oblivion and Morrowind. Also, got my awesome PC, but the graphics cards were overheating, so I had to get them replaced. I kid you not. I did a simple benchmark test and the temperature jumped from 47 degrees C to 111 in about 30 seconds. Scary hot! Anyway, I got 'em changed out and it went from 47 to 70, which is pretty standard for the geforece gtx 260 cards from what I've read. I think I'm gonna test it out with S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Call of Pripyat tonight. (Not exactly a demanding game, but it should make a suitable test to be sure the cards aren't junk again)
Yahtzee's just completely panned Final Fantasy XIII, and as someone who doesn't really see the point in the series, I just wondered what any of the fans thought of his review?
That made my interest spike. Bethesda can't write decent scripts to save their live's If i hadn't so many games to play maybe i would.
He has some very valid points, but I will say that for all he does make those points it's those very things which appeal to some people. By his own admission he's gone into it with certain preconceptions, and that's clouded his playing of the game. Has a point about Vanille, mind. And I still can't place her accent.
I played Pong today. Cuz I'm cool like that. I also played an old Oregon Trail game. Yes, very awesome. (I actually mean that, too.)
Much better than Modern Warfare (1 or 2) I got to admit. I'm terribad at multiplayer but that doesn't stop me from trying!
