Wait, Fallout 4? No. No. I have yet to beat 3 or Las Vegas. I get bored/lost/forgetful when you give me a completely open world plan apparently, because I haven't beaten Skyrim yet either.

Lol! It is good to know you knew what I was talking about even if I didn't give the correct name :D What really, really, scares me is that I doubt the two teenage boys were talking about the story line or the poem when they were trying to warn me off of it.

I haven't beaten Fallout: New Vegas yet, and I'm looking forward to Fallout 4.

Well, maybe they'll have a good soundtrack like in 3 if they do a 4. There was no love lost between me and New Vegas, music wise. An hour in, I was tempted to mute the game.

In New Vegas, I just got bored. Started trying to see how many people I could blow up at one time, just for kicks. 3, well, I got really sad about halfway through for one of the main plot lines.

When I saw 'Dante's infernal' I just knew. :p But yeah, the combat is boring and repetitive, the plot doesn't make any sense half the time - which is almost as bad as it being the exact opposite of the story of the poem. I don't even think I'm joking when I say DOOM was closer to the story of Inferno than Dante's Inferno was. The artwork and scenery is really the only thing that gives the game a right to exist, and you can tell a lot of work went in to the visuals of first half of the game; it's very impressive, but even then ... if you want to see Dante's version of hell you can get that by just reading the poem.

What did you think of Fallout 3? Myself I loved Fallout 3, but I'm really glad I had all the DLC with it when I started.

I loved what I played of it. Highly addictive, good music that I had never heard of but is still stuck in my head. I did not, though, get any of the DLC. I'm honestly thinking of purchasing it again to try and finish it but being such an open world, well, that's a lot of time to commit that I don't have. The game controls were natural and I had bought it late enough afterwards where there were no glitches left.

Thinking of it, losing my fave gun in New Vegas due to a glitch might have something to do with me getting bored with it.

I loved Fallout 3, to be honest. I actually felt like a lone hero wandering a post-apocalyptic wasteland, knowing that it was up to my character to save what was left. New Vegas? I felt like my character was just a pawn in everyone else's schemes.

What can I say? I love doing the lone hero thing. xD

I played the Game of the Year edition, very few glitches (none at all really) and some of the DLCs were really good. The Pit was maybe the best, and Point Lookout is a close second, the two of them have this weird charm that is different to the main game in a really good way.

Point Lookout was hard. D= My guy could've been the strongest person in the Wasteland, and still was getting his butt kicked by the residents there.

That's what I liked about it. I liked having to sneak around the swamps hiding from people, because they where so tough. However, I found that if you used the Lever-action rifle it wasn't as much of a challenge. In fact, I loved the Lever-action rifle. After playing that DLC I pretty much used that weapon exclusively.

Point Lookout did have this weird, almost Lovecraftian charm about it too. Whereas The Pit was more like the old Escape movies, like Escape from New York, and it was really well written for a DLC.

The Pitt was my favorite, to be honest. It actually had a moral quandry that caused me to stop and think. Not many games can do that to me.

The one thing that I didn't like with Black Ops 2, was the route that it went down concerning the zombie mode. In World at War I loved it, you had a certain horror factor to it, Verruckt the asylum being an example, even Der Riese was built to be quite scary, along with Shi No Numa. It's difficult to explain but after Ascension I really lost interest in the story, and the Moon was a poor move in my opinion. It became to sci-fi focused. I love sci-fi but it is a zombies mode, I would just preferred it if they kept it on Area 51. And the zombies became too predictable at least in the original Verruckt they were as fast as the player. Still I'll see what it's like in Black Ops 2.

I've been busy lately finishing up my book, so I haven't been on the forum much. I have been a bit active in the game front, though, so here's a few quick reviews of the latest stuff I've played (or are playing now).

    On my Nintendo 3DS:
Resident Evil: Revelations: A new engine (well, the RE4 engine, updated a bit), co-op with an AI partner more or less the whole time, freakin' underwater sections, no less than six main characters, and the whole thing on a portable console, of all things. It shouldn't work. It really, really shouldn't work. But know what? It does. It absolutely does. I dare say it's the second best game in the series so far, only surpassed by Resident Evil 2. I absolutely love it! And if the game itself wasn't awesome enough, it even includes a Raid-mode (aka Mercenary-mode, aka the entire RE: The Mercenaries 3D set in the Revelations-setting - for free! With added achivements!) The only drawback is you need the Expansion Pad. Or to be precise, it's technically possible to play without it, but why bother? Or to quote Chris Rock: "I have drive my car with my feet if I wanted to, but that doesn't make it a f'ing good idea." So true. :p

Kid Icaurs: Uprising. I could say so much about this game, but I'll let Pit and Pandora to the talking:

Pandora: I decided I wanted to get my driver's license, so I built a parking lot, but then it dawned on me that I can't steer without hands.
Pit: How did you build a parking lot without hands?
    Pandora: Hard work and determination.

Pit: If Viridi's army is attacking they're doing it awfully quietly.
Pit: "At least I'M doing something Pit. You're such a slacker. Ugh!
Pit: I really need to stop talking to myself

    (yes, it's that awesome.) :D

Finally, there's Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure. I love it, but I, uh, don't even know what it is. It's a rhythm game, adventure game and puzzle game in one. And it's pretty cool. :)

    On Nintendo

Since this topic is about understanding something, I'd like people to share. I haven't made up my mind yet. I might just save my money for the wiiu. It releases in november but they haven't announced it yet

However, I think the philosophy of the wiiu hasn't changed from the Wii. If that is the case I don't want it. I don't want wand controls. I want a regular joy pad. If they could go back to their core roots instead of bringing back the past they will be much more successful. Nintendo focuses on price point. I did notice though they are getting smarter. For one thing since graphics are becoming complex, they have teams dedicated for graphics.

New ips are something that they need. This is true especially since Mario and Zelda are getting their creativity limited by the wand. If they make the joytick support available and actually make Nintendo power a credible magazine that reviews other platforms it would be a deal breaker. I don't trust reviewers anymore. People who played old games know what I am talking about. Game rankings is the closest thing we have. Even then you can be blind. I hated the wii and game cube. I loved the super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. Nintendo needs to increase developer's creativity and not their own. The Super Nintendo was evidence of this. The 3ds is a 2d console with old games. Since console budgets are high the downloadable content isn't working. This is just my 2 cents on this.

So is nintendo's philosophy working for you?

The Wii was the fastest selling console in this generation, and the 3DS sold more than the DS it's first six months - and that despise a horrible launch with hardly any good games and a huge price cut after a few months. Not only that, but it floors the PSVita when it comes to sales. So yeah, I guess it's safe to say they are both a bit successful.

Second, what do you mean 'the 3DS is a 2D console' with old games? Have you even tried it?

Third, what does the 'wand' (I assume you mean the wiimote?) have to do with creativity? The Wii was much weaker than PS360 because they focused on getting the whole family to join in, so they needed a cheap console everyone could afford. The 'wand' was to make it easier for everyone to play, too. And again, judging by sales, the Wii was a major success. Even more than the Super Nintendo, if I'm not mistaken.

Fourth, there are plenty of magazines and online sites that review for all the major platforms. Asking a Nintendo magazine to review for other platforms might be a bit weird. Personally, I prefer ign.com, but that's just me. Metacritic is also very useful, as they take a whole bunch of reviews, piels them together and ends up with an average score.

Fifth, as for the Wii U, they have not confirmed yet when it's going to be released, other than this year. Though they have confirmed Darksiders 2 will be a launch game, and it was pushed back from July to August. That could indicate that the Wii U will be released in August, but don't take my word for it.

Sixth, the Wii U will use the board-thingy and the Wiimote. The board-thing is the one that looks like an iPad with thumbstucks, but had gyrocontrols and quite a few other things like that. But like the Wii, the Wii U can probably use Classic Controllers too.

Seventh... ah, nevermind, you get the idea.

Okay, I spent about a month hearing about how Mass Effect 3 is amazing up until the ending, where everything goes the way of aging milk. A few days ago, I finally got it, and I half agree. The majority of the game is fantastic, and the ending is rather less so. But I wouldn't say the ending is even remotely as bad as the fan outcry suggests.

I'm typing this less than fifteen minutes after completing the game, so the details are still fresh in my mind. Simply put, the terrible things that so many are saying about the last ten minutes are either dramatic exaggerations or outright lies. I think that in their rage, these people are "misremembering" key details. I'm afraid to go into detail for spoilers' sake, so I'll just say this. One of the common complaints relates to a certain new character's circular logic, how it's hypocritical and all that. I say it actually makes sense if you really LISTEN to what he's saying. Yes, it's still a pretty "meh" way to end a trilogy, and introducing a new character right at the very end is generally a no-no in my book, but it does make sense. EDIT: I'm referring to the kid's explanation here. There are still other things in the ending that don't make sense.

As to the apparent existence of teleportation technology and cut-and-run pilots... No comment. Maybe the extended ending DLC they're throwing together will elaborate on that. Though if it's not a free DLC, I'll probably just watch it on Youtube--EA won't be shoving its grubby hands down my pocket.

I played ME3 for a while on PC, but hated it with a passion. ME2 was a disappointment, but at least it was somewhat fun to play as a completely stand-alone, unrelated game set in the ME-universe. But ME3? It's not a game. It's an interactive movie. A boring, interactive movie, even. In a trilogy where 'every decision matters', how come you don't really make any decisions at all in ME3? And how come many of the decisions you make in ME1 and 2 doesn't matter in ME3? With the boring Dragon Age (far too much fighting and too boring setting), DA2 (should have called it Dragon Effect) and the boring ME2 and 3, I was really hoping they could redeem themselves as the kings of RPG with Star Wars: The Old Republic. It took me a month to cancel the subscription. I started up in February again, then cancelled again when they decided I'm not a valued customer. This time I won't be back in the Old Republic, and I'm very skeptical to anything else BioWare makes.

    'Word' - WriterDude!

Likewise here... I player ME2 for sometime, eventually got so bored... Then got ME3, or my brother did... I didn't even try to install it... First thing that p*ssed me off is the constant cut-scene shit... no thanks...

Anyway I still enjoy Skyrim, don't care what other people say, it's awesome! (You make the game). Having a level 22 Conjurer and being the Arch Mage of winterhold (after reroll - had a 23 rogue, warrior mix thing which ended up being a waste). Got myself some maps and books and stuff to explore the world (in game) also last night discovered that way up in the North there's sunken ships way deep under the ocean :).

point about Skyrim : Don't stick to doing one thing, that's the quickest way to get bored, like the discovery of those ships at the bottom of the ocean. Before them I found a random cave, which led me into a dungeon that kept me busy for 2 hours + in the cave found a note about a sword in another cave, which then lead me to the finding of some cool items and yet another story about some other weird things, finally made it to a shrine way on top of a mountain which had an awesome overlook a cross the north sea, went down and walked right into a snow bears den, killed them then while skipping alone the ice 'plates' i fell into the water and then noted that 'Hey?!' something's down there... even on the world map it showed some other ships around there but not those, that's what I like some pointers on the map about the known stuff and then while roaming the world you discover new things, into the unknown :)

Oh and way way before that I went to a inn to rest, and I overheard some random people talking about a myth, about some crystal star thing which gave the bearer ultimate power... that lead me on the journey which started around 7pm then ended up playing till 12:30am :p...

Also I played on the easy level before the mage... == totally uber gayness... switched to adept :) every now and then I switch to Master, makes the game way way better...( oh and do make a shortcut F5 :) quick save!! )

Other than that I'm busy developing on my own game project :)

I enjoyed Skyrim for a while, but it fell into the same traps as Oblivion did. It's just not fun to explore the world. I've been in countless caves and dungeons, but they all contain zombies or bandits. Only an occasinal cave contain something else, and even then it's usually the blue elves, or whatever the heck they are. The story was boring, and finding things like those sunken ships would be so much more fun if there was a point to it. Even the dragons themselves got boring after a while. The first few fights are awesome, but after that you start to see a pattern. Then it's just a chore to fight them.

In other news, I tried the TERA Online beta yesterday - for about two hours, then got bored. The first problem was the elk creatures. They charged up the attacked, stomped the ground a bit and set off with a long combo by waving their horns and stuff like that. Which would be fine - if I hadn't moved behind them when they started stomping, then stood behind them and watched them attack thin air through the entire combo. Even if I kept hitting them from behind, they still didn't turn around until after their combo was done. Of course, then I simply dodge-rolled behind them and kept hitting them again. The worst part is that every single enemy is like that. If you know when to roll or block, the enemies are harmless. So what's the point?

Quests were dull. Not only do we get the usual 'go there, kill those, hand in' quests, but no we get 'go there, kill those, hand in, then return and kill the exact same enemies all over again'. Really. I killed the same enemies three times in a row for three different quests. The controls are awkward, to say the least. I know they want you to play with the gamepad and stuff like that, but you only have to look at DC Universe Online to see how near-identical combat can be so much, much more fun with a few minor tweaks.

Graphically, I was surprised when I tried to adjust the graphics in Tera and found them already set to the highest setting. I wasn't impressed, in other words. Sound? Zzzzz.... I could go on, but you get the idea. I came, I fought, I left and won't be back to Tera anytime soon. I do want to try Diablo 3, though. But I preordered it from battle.net and will download it closer to release to get an updated client, and it's under a month away (!). Why spoil it now? ;)

It should make three of us, but my stupid computer refuse to even download the client. I've tried everything. I found two fixes online, I've deleted everything and reinstalled, I've even let the computer download since I left home this morning, seven hours ago. And yet... nothing. :( But it's only three weeks and a few days until launch (!), and I've pre-ordered from battle.net and will download the retail client closer to launch. I can't wait! :D

Starting up Fallout: New Vegas. I hope it'll be good... it's been ages since I've played any modern games, except maybe Skyrim.. took an hour to get bored of that. Not really sure what the allure of it is.

My computer never cease to amaze me. I just finished downloading the entire 7.60GB Diablo III client - or so I thought, except I can't find it. "Want to run setup?" "Yes!" "Sucks to be you! *computer deletes everything*" Grrr... I'm downloading it all over again (only took an hour), so here's hoping it'll work this time.

In better news, I finally got the Nintendo 3DS online. Yay!
