Any other fans of the older games out there, like those on 1st-3rd gen consoles (and of course the pc and mac games of those eras)?

I got my first NES when I was 6yo and immediately fell in love with games. I kinda lost interest after the SNES when I was around 13. Oddly enough, I've caught the bug again (partly thanks to @KaTrian as she's wanted us to buy a console for several years), and now find I have a lot of catching up to do. Before we get the new gear, I've been going back to the old favorites like Super Metroid (especially the Redesign and Eris), Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Street Fighter II, Final Fantasy VI, Mega Man X etc. Unsurprisingly most of my faves are on the SNES although the NES games have the most nostalgic value, like Faxanadu, Zelda 2 (yeah, I prefer it over the first, I said it! :D), Metroid, Mega Man 2, Robo Warrior etc. The Genesis had some awesome titles too, especially the Golden Axe series.

Any other gamers into the nostalgic titles?

I wish my N64 still worked as I wouldn't mind playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on their original system once again for the nostalgia. I do have Wind Waker HD for the Wii U, but not sure if that counts. :p

Not to make you jealous, but... I have a working N64 with the following games: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Mario Party 2 + 3, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Super Smash Bros.

Young fool. Only now, at the end, do you understand...

For it was I who decided that the Wii U would be an excellent system for Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash Bros 4, Wind Waker HD, and Super Mario World 3D.

I love replaying games for the nostalgia. I always feel lame since, for me, the PS2 is nostalgic. Titles like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Psychonauts, etc.

I hadn't assumed that the dark side had Wii U's.

Have you never watched Star Wars? I was trying to pretend I was Darth Vader. Y'know, the big lumbering guy who sounds like an asthmatic and has an penchant for force-strangling everyone who fails him?

You've seriously never heard of Darth Vader? He's only one of the most iconic villains in sci-fi of all time!!

Well, the N64 is a 4th gen system, so let's say it counts, but the Wii U is the latest N console, so not sure if that's "quite" the same. :p

Good taste in Wii U games, btw. The only Smash that maybe rivals 4 is Project M, but, alas, they haven't released a PAL version yet. Hopefully they'll release it within a few months.

One thing I don't get about Smash, though: Samus is consistently one of the characters featured in Smash ads, but it seems they refuse to buff her much after the royal nerfing she got in Brawl. Not that she was ever a tier 1, but I'd imagine they'd want to keep the more iconic characters out of the bottom tiers. Oh well, I'm biased because Metroid is one of my favorite games, but she really hasn't been quite the same since Mêlée.

I apologize for the somewhat off-topic post, but why is this the only generalized topic not pinned? We have movies, TV shows, and music pinned, but not games.

That's what I was thinking, VR. We should contact the mods to have it pinned.

i cant remember whether or not i have posted to this thread, but yeah, seems ironic considering that i'm in process of writing an additional essay on whether or not video games cause violence
