We're going to Florida in March, it will probably be our last time, the political situation being what it is. But we paid for our house rental in Orlando before the election. Sixteen of us in a 8-bedroom house. Mom, my brother, my sister-in-law, and me, are driving, and the other 12 are flying. I've driven to Florida a couple of times before, and I have to say I like the drive. Maybe it is because I had good company, and the scenery was good, too. Met nothing but nice people on the road.
Congratulations to Canada! We have ice-hockey down here, but it's nowhere as big as in the US or Canada.
Um ... I've no idea which fight you mean, KiraAnn. The only "fight" I know of is the US/Canada political tussle, and I wouldn't touch that with a 30-foot hockey stick. There may have been a brawl after the game, but I haven't heard of one.
I went to a fight one time..............and a hockey game broke out. (rehash an old one liner..Wha Wha)
In the gold medal game, three fights broke out in the first nine seconds of the game between the US and Canada. Tensions were high.
Um, yikes? :-\ Yes, I know that tensions can run high (and blood flow) on the rink. But I hadn't expected fights to break out so early. It reminds me of various examples from (for example) the soccer pitch, but the funniest I can remember was a player -- whose name I forget, alas -- who was given a red card and sent off before the game even started. (But how, you may ask? Good question). *rapidly looks it up in his handy-dandy copy of "The Ultimate Book of Heroic Failures", S. Pile, 2011, pp. 29* My mistake. To quote: Compared to these awe-inspiring champions, the fighters on the ice-rink were perhaps a little tardy.
I am back! And I am excited, because the videos I edited are premiring tomorrow night! I am so excited. So many people will see them and I am just glad to have been able to edit them.
I was in Davos for a week several years back and I loved it. Like being in a tourist brochure, except alive and with beer,
The primere of my video editing work went really well! I was acknowledged and given a round of applause. It was great.
Anyway, this made me quite happy of a morning: I found a way to make the morning coffee (or tea, or hot chocolate etc.) even better. This works especially well with hot chocolate. Prepare your hot chocolate or coffee as usual, but take a piece of dark chocolate, chop it finely, and add it to your drink. This gives it a rich, thick, chocolatey taste, and you don't need a sweetener (e.g. sugar). Since the chocolate is dark, it also adds health benefits, like antioxidants. Enjoy!
The Japanese would probably disagree with you. They have tea-flavoured KitKats. They also have tea-flavored ice cream...
Another thing that made me happy: here's a random poem I just came across, which tells people who rush up to the door after you're closing, and demand to be let in, just where to go. Oh thou whose watch doth lag by mere design who barges forth as gates begin to close, demanding welcome past appointed sign, Entitlement worn grandly, head to toes; Thou monarch of the minute past the hour, believing coin commands all doors swing wide -- thy precious whims bestowed with royal power, yet common sense, it seems, thou hast denied. Shall I reverse the very flow of time to cater to thy late and pompous plea? A petty tyrant, thinking it no crime to scorn the rules that govern all but thee? Begone, for commerce bends not to thy whim, nor time rewinds to sate a brat's foul vim. (Too bad I don't know who wrote this. It would be great to be able to give credit where credit's due)
Im finally in a headspace to acknowledge the happy things in life right now.... My sister is alive and getting out of the hospital this week Another short story of mine has been published and comes out either this week or next week And i got contacted by 3 people who are interested in the local chapter that i started for a national organization (our first in person meeting is tomorrow)
I'm in Japan right now, the weather is nice, and all my readings say my health is much better because I'm being more active and eating better than at home. And I haven't received any rejections for my latest submissions yet. I am, of course, here researching for my Showa Story short story. Yes. Researching. This is what I am doing.
Weird questions? *curious* I've been in the workplace for 26 years (both working and non-working), and I've heard my share of weird questions -- even a few illegal ones. What kind of weird questions do you mean, Gravy? Do tell. Now I'm curious. (No need to go into detail if you can't, that's obviously fine).
