Another essay back another 2:1 at 66%. My 2:1 streak is still going strong. :)

Edit: Found out I got another 2:1 at 67%. Still going strong.

WOO! I am on a friggin' ROLL here! Sat down at 12:30 pm with my Amos story at a measly 2,777 words and now, at 2:00 pm, it's nearly 4,000 words strong! 8D Even better, it's not 4,000 words of random scenes here and there, but 4,000 words of scenes that follow one after another, so it all makes sense. Oh, and I'm on Chapter Two!

    Off write some more.

I just finished the second big edit of my novel, and I also read it through from start to finish on my Kindle for the first time.

I'm so excited! On the whole, I actually really enjoyed it. I feel so positive that it deserves a place out there on the bookshelves, but obviously, my doubts are getting in the way.

Basically what this means is that I can't really go any further until I've had some other people read it and give me their thoughts/suggestions. That makes me extremely nervous.

So, if anyone likes women's/YA realist fiction about teen angst, do let me know. :p

^ Nice! I've been considering getting a new phone but I decided that 1. I rarely use my phone so not much point and 2. My Samsung E300 still works perfectly well. ;D Although I did find this phone with a cool multicoloured cover so it's tempting...

Also, just listened to the radio adaptation of Noughts and Crosses. SO GOOD. SO SAD. I want to reread the book now, I haven't read it in years because I read them so much I kinda knew it off by heart. >.>

Plus, I'm sort of making progress on a bit of uni work and stuff. ;D

You see, I promised myself an iPhone years ago. I could finally afford one, so I got one. My old one didn't have internet or anything like that, so it's a real step up! Need to try Skype on it at some point soon. Only down side thus far is the battery life - which is shockingly short. I've been using it plenty (and arranged a visit to Newcastle and a mini-reunion with about 40 texts and a few phone calls already), though, and have the original Sonic The Hedgehog for it. Green Hill Zone ftw!

Learned how to play Simple Man ~ Shinedown on my guitar, talked to this women from an island off the coast of India about Buddhism, and I'm getting a piano.

Awesome. ;D iPhones do look good, excluding the battery life (not heard good things about it).

Staggeringly short. Already charged it twice! In fairness, I was on it all day yesterday, and although I've been texting plenty this morning I've not been on the internet on it, which means I expect it to get through the day without problems.

Just been researching literary agencies and I found one that looks perfect. They had me feeling excited about submitting to them, so I'm pretty sure they're going to be my first port of call. :D

After about 6 months of dithering, I've resolved to start the research tonight for the novel I want to write, and I'm quite excited to be finally getting on with it. Ludicrous plot, potentially dodgy premise and awful 3rd person pov skills be damned!

I just finished the longest story I've ever written. Okay so it was just a 12 chapter fanfiction, but dangit I've never finished something like this before and I really feel like I've grown as a writer through it. Not to mention I've gained a few new friends along the way who have enjoyed it.

Yesterday, a second person told me that my style reminds them of Dostoyevsky, and that they liked my wip very much. I can't see how this can be true, but I am really, really happy nonetheless :D

I'm extremely happy right now because I'm pretty sure I now have a wonderful, sweet, witty, and adorably awkward boyfriend :D We've been friends for a little while and have been slowing and quietly moving towards actually being together for a few weeks now. He's so sweet and makes me feel really good and happy, way more so than my ex (not that he was a horrible guy or anything, he just wasn't for me). I'm so happy around him and its really wonderful.

Happy, happy, joy, joy... I got a job today after a long time being unemployed. :)
Start Monday. I do hope I can impress.
In two weeks time I will have my first proper salary in years... Ah bliss, now I can get out of the joggers and tracksuits and into skirts and blouses again. Mmmm. :) :)

Wrong. Exude confident that you will impress, and you will. Attitude is everything, especially a "can do" attitude.

And congratulations. I know how disheartening a long period of unemployment can be.

My first day off work. After what has been a frenetic last 14 weeks (taking into account the few weeks before starting where I am), it's quite nice to have a day where I can sit back and do nothing if I want. I've been into town this morning and been book and plectrum hunting, and this afternoon will be spent booking hotels for a fortnight's time, when I go to Newcastle for a long weekend. Then it's time to sit down and read for about 4 hours.

Maggie, I just came out of six months of unemployment. I know where you're coming from and that your confidence will have taken a hit from a long time out, but I agree with Cog. Don't hope: believe.

Will enter with confidence. Have done this kind of work before and have upgraded my studies over the last 5 weeks. So feel confident enough. Thanks Cogito. :)
