Hey everyone. Just got back from the vacation a few days ago. Hubby and I had a blast, but it's great to be back. I am just so very thankful to have my hero back home after such a long deployment. I've heard "reintegration" horror stories and am glad that ours has been so wonderful. Thanks again to everyone who remembered and gave such kind words.
TOO MANY BOOKS I WANT TO BUY. So I was in a bookshop and as usual, I was carrying around a pile of books and then by the time I was thinking 'I should probably buy these now', I looked at the amount of books and was like 'okay, not all of them'. Eventually, I just bought two and noted down the titles of the others. Which is good because ordinarily I would've just bought the one (the one I actually went in for). Anyway, I went to this other bookshop as well and I should really go there more often. They give you free coffee, and even though I don't like coffee, that is pretty cool. Too bad they didn't have the book I needed. So yes, BOOKSHOPS MAKE ME HAPPY. Also, seeing Daphne Sheldrick and William Boyd tonight!
Off topic but yay me I just received notice that I was accepted into the nursing program I've been working toward. It's taken forever with three kids, but finally finished the pre-requisites and applied in January. I've been on pins and needles ever since. Only 40 students were accepted into my cohort as it's highly competitive. I suppose I won't be working on my novel much for the next two years, but I'm in. I keep flipping between excitement and disbelief. And then there's terror. "I had to do how much before clinicals start?!"
So I'm a bit sick and my eye is infected, but tomorrow I get to see all those little kiddies again. And I'm dressing up as a fairy. In pink.
I may be going on the local BBC radio tomorrow morning, to talk about bins. This is good, but also rather scary...
Good stuff for me to report! #1- Finished my Islamic mid-term, and I think I did all right. #2- Finished my essay on the Irish potato famine. #3- About to take my Art History II mid-term, and I feel confident about that. #4- SPRING BREAK NEXT WEEK!! #5- Made the Dean's List in my university because I have a 3.05 GPA. Report complete! 8D
After a particularly stressful night, followed by trying to train the most inexperienced lazy new hire, I finally convinced the child to practice vitals NOW. Her excuse was "I want to wait until CNA class starts". My reply was..."This is your job and if you don't learn it NOW, you will kill someone. So practice on me, learn the normal ranges in a safe zone or they will never release you to patient care alone". (The stressful night was me alone with 18 patients, as the charge nurse forgot to restructure things before removing my help and left herself before I could say anything). In anycase, it was an exhausting week, and I felt quasi justified when the CEO sent an e-mail out to the entire team thanking them for all the hard work on that particular day and for those who came early and stayed late. And I was smug and looked at my husband and said "it went smoothly because of me, not the rest of those lazy twits". I was privately gloating, at home, where no one could get mad at me, only to receive a hand written thank you card in the mail from my direct boss thanking me for all that I've done. So now I totally feel justified and like the most awesome employee EVER.
Outstanding! Way to go. I am pleased by this. Oh that's good news. I'm always encouraged when I hear someone has made a sale.
Hey! Ditto! Been looking for a job for ages, and finally today I got a call saying "YOU GOT IT!" Yay!
On the subject of food, I'm enjoying eating an Easter egg (yes, I know it's not Easter yet) and raspberries. Chocolate and raspberries really are one of the best combinations. Also, I was stewarding at a Jeremy Paxman event today. He was quite entertaining and it was interesting what he was talking about. And I've just been to an Alexander McCall Smith event. He was hilarious. ;D
One of the best? Let's take out those first two words there, and then your sentence structure will be correct. It really should be classified as Ambrosia. Chocolate and raspberries are the food of the gods.
