35.3k and in the middle of handling some early chapter re-writing. Probably going to end up around 36k before I tackle the final two chapters of my story. Noticing quite the difference in my writing skills from the early chapters that were written almost two years ago to my newer material. It feels pretty sweet.
Realized I can go to school 15 minutes late on late start Wednesdays so that I might see someone who goes to the school I would've gone to on the TTC. Every day is a day closer to Wednesday now.
I just received my graduation confirmation so as of today I officially hold a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. Woohoo! I also just bought a new car and am going on a snorkeling holiday on the Great Barrier Reef. Now, I just need to keep up the momentum in my writing!
Well done Barry. I can sleep easy, now that the threat of nuclear apocalypse is diminished for another four years.
Just as nice, both Akin and Mourdock lost. I'm actually happier about that than the presidential result.
Woohooo! Very happy to wake up and see the results. Glad women aren't going to be set back 50 years and stay in control of their own bodies. And yes, I do realize I live in Canada, but I'm still an American citizen, always will be, and still vote in the States.
Oh, one other thing I'm happy about from this election: Nate Silver. Big win for him and sabermetrics last night. He does interesting and effective work, hopefully he'll get the credit he deserves now. edit: Reading up on some of the ballot measures that passed... I'm very happy to see so many same sex marriage props pass (or in Minnesota's case the attempt to ban them fail). Between that and the ousting of Akin and Mourdock, and the fact that Paul Ryan will not be vice president, this was a pretty good election for human rights.
I have a job! Alright it's a temp job and not very well paid, but it's extra money and I can work at the library around this at the same time. Weird thinking not too long ago I was unemployed, and now working two jobs.
My sister, brother in law and nephew are going to be waiting for me at my house after school! Happy days are to follow!
Thanksgiving is next week! 8D My break starts next Wednesday, and will continue until the following Monday. So happy! And I'm about 90% done with the Final Draft of my thesis!
It's my roomie's birthday today! I have to wait for my laundry to dry, then it's off to the store to get him sherbet and cake!
Off all week for thanksgiving break, got my DRIVERS PERMIT TODAY! D Gonna play some xbox soon. Great day.
What-ho all you old beans, now I speak in a whatsit british way, what? I hope all you old eggs don't think I'm putting a jolly bad show, what? But I find it rather spiffing.
Yay! Congrats! As for me, got a good result on my math test! Now if I could just eliminate all other work I need to get done, I'd be even happier.
There is much to be happy about. 1) Today, I received my grade on the most recent chemistry exam. 92%! This has me with a 92.6% in the class; I am pleased. The only exam left in the class is the final -- if I get an A on it, I'll have earned A's in that class for the entire semester. I had serious problems with chemistry in the past that left me feeling like a failure; now I see that I can understand the material... I just need a professor who cares and to get over my anxiety about addressing my problems with the material. I'll be making the Dean's List this semester too. 2) I broke up with my boyfriend of approximately one year in September, right before my 21st birthday. I am finally over it and can listen to love songs again and not be bothered. I'm going on dates again. It feels good. I'll probably see him again in December... Here's hoping I don't give it another shot - right now, I'm confident that I wont... 3) I'm 21! It's been a year of much excitement -- I was blessed to celebrate in New Orleans and Mexico in October and November, respectively. I'm not sure my liver is as pleased with my newfound freedom, but I'm loving it. 4) I'm a published author. It's kind of funny - I always write fiction or poetry, but I've never had it published. I think I'm too scared to try. I used to think that was how I would get my name out there. Instead, I've been published as a journalist and as a scientist now - but never as a creative writer. lol. I'll take it though. I'm pleased. 5) I'm graduating in May. 6) I have good friends in my life.
I hope things continue to go well for you, Mercurial! I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed in my ASL class, but on Sunday, I ushered a theater show featuring two interpreters, and I actually understood some of what they were signing. Just tiny snippets, rarely any full sentenced, but I'm really pleased that I was able to pick up on anything at all.
Gah, a friend posted random crap while I had this thread open. On the bright side, 200 posts in 4 posts
