I was happy. One more frigging stump to go! But it was stumpzilla. About twenty came out with just a little digging and one stick of dynamite. But it was getting dark and gramps was getting on our nerves. One stick, stumpzilla didn't budge. Two sticks and we had a bigger hole. Woo Hoo! Now we can see more roots to dig. Back at it. "No not that one! The bigger one! Can't you girls swing an axe better than than that?! Back in my day!" "Enough gramps! Just put five under here!" He nodded and went with five. It was dark and everyone was hungry. He lit, we ran. In math, 1 + 1 = 2. But with dynamite.....Reckon it don't add that way. Once we rattled a few windows of neighbors about a mile away, walked up to a crater and stumpzilla was gone. I mean gone! Vanished! Look around for a bit, nope, can't find it. "Awe sheit! Let's go eat!" Best thing gramps had said since lunch. Almost back to the barn and.....HOLY SHEIT! IT'S STUMPZILLA! Damn thing got launched about as far as Tiger Woods can hit a golf ball. Could have made the newspaper headlines. Man And Two Boys Killed Blasting Stumps. Squashed flatter than pancakes from stumpzilla falling out of the sky. WTF?! Some kinda of happy not being in the paper the next day.
Before we got a dog, the first thing we would do when a neighbor's dog got loose......FEED IT! The next time it got out it came straight to our house to play!
I ended up getting to go to my first prom after all yesterday! It was so much more fun that I'd expected. I had a blast.
Well that is just the cutest thing ever. I can just imagine it now ha ha I can honestly say I'm happy my first year of college is almost over! I have finals starting this week and running to next wednesday, then I move out. It's back home to California from there! Then semester I start my new major in English. I decided I really want to be an English teacher. My classes will be: Critical Reading/Writing, Literature before 1800, Beginning Fiction, Elementary French (I decided to take it up again), and Intro Sociology. I have a good feeling about next semester. But first I'm going to enjoy this Summer! Woooooh!
magazine If your object here is to make money, and sell your work, why don't you give the name of the magazine (and the article) so some here can purchase it, to read? Congrats-
I gave a presentation in my psychology class without passing out! Presentations are always really hard for me because of my anxiety, so I decided to do my presentation on Social Anxiety Disorder, half-joking that if I had a panic attack in the middle of it, it could be like an in-class demonstration. My professor told me that we could work something out if I wasn't able to present in class, but I decided to give it a shot first, because I've been trying to put myself "out there" more and learn to cope with it. I got a little choked up but my classmates were supportive, since I mentioned that this was something I was dealing with, and I think it went pretty well for the most part. It's a silly thing to be so happy about but I'm just so relieved. I honestly didn't think I'd be able to actually do it.
I reconnected with my old high school crush (one-sided) and he said I looked as beautiful as he remembered!
I just got a call back for a job interview with a local school district. I love my current employer, but the school district is offering $20k+ a year higher pay. It's just an interview, but I really like my chances. My heart rate is elevated and there is a smile on my face. Now I have to break the news to my current boss (who is aware that I applied for the other position).
I handed in my resignation today and it felt awesome! moving on to better pay, better hours, better location, better people, better prospect of a career. THANK GOD.
Oh and i should mention that part of the reason I haven't been posting is because I was recovering from surgery. drove a car yesterday for the first time since
I'm getting hired for my first job ever! Just gotta go in today to fill out some paperwork, and then training starts next week. Once training is done, I'll be working from home, with really early hours. I'm so excited!
I just got called for a second interview with the director of the deaprtment, so I feel really good about my chances! Super cool! Congrats!
I've been happy lately because the weather is getting warmer here in Maine, I enjoy posting comments to online forums such as WritingForums.org, and I enjoy performing volunteer work.
Aaaaahhhhhh, don't you just love the smell of a fresh mowed lawn? I certainly do. And what's better after 2 hours of mowing, than inviting a couple of friends over to your house and have a beer on a porch, while sun is shining?
Some more than others. At my mom's place, the large lawn on the far side of the stream has wild thyme mixed in with the grass. When that is mown, the fragrance is nothing short of heavenly!
It's been six years as of April 1st for me. Keep it up Lemex. *I can't believe that after all this time I still want a smoke now and then.
Got an airbrace into a shoe and was able to walk, albeit slightly painfully and weirdly, sans crutches! Yay!! Need to get on a commuter train then Amtrak really early Thursday morning, and didn't know how I was going to do that with a computer bag and suitcase with crutches.
Woohoo My paper about The Sea Change by Hemingway is going very well! I hope to have it finished tomorrow so I can rewrite my paper on Louis Paul Boon's Eros and the Lonely Man (free translated from Dutch). Beside that I managed to write a really nice scene! The idea kept me from sleeping yesterday night and my co-writer liked it Needs some fine tuning since I actually drafted it really quickly just to get it out of my head!
Today I'm happy because I volunteered at a local agricultural farm. I enjoyed the work and met quite a few new people there today, many of whom are also volunteers.
Today is a milestone birthday. I just turned sixty. And yes, I am very happy about that. Life is good.
