Right now I'm happy about the fact that tomorrow night I'll be seeing some fireworks, as tomorrow is the Fourth of July!
Four day weekend! And tomorrow's the Fourth, so fireworks and BBQ/beer! To anyone in the US, happy Fourth!
Wonderful start to my day today. I opened my email and found out that I won a goodreads giveaway! I've entered so many of them but never won. And this is a book I was really hoping to win -- Alan Weisman has a new book coming out in September - a follow up to The World Without Us, which I absolutely loved. So I would have been purchasing this book anyway. I am so psyched to win it!
Ooh! winning things is always great! Especially if you really wanted it After the horrible news that my aunt has just a couple months to live, the emotional hospital visits and bad results from my exams I finally feel relaxed. My BF took me to the zoo yesterday and I had a great time! I managed to shoot a great picture of an owl, if I may say so myself. I love birds, especially birds of prey like owls! And now I'm doing some writing and it's going great. I hope this relax mood lasts a while
Hard not to anthropomorphize that owl expression. Great shot. And hooray for your Goodreads win, Liz.
This is so typical of Irish humour I just had to post it here - if it doesn't make you smile and possibly applaud, you need to go to the unhappy thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9fe1j1Jkf0
erebh: Haha, very cute. It's like in the Uk, a bit of warm weather and street parties (and riots) can begin
erebh - Never let it be said that we Irish don't know how to boogie. (Just trying to imagine this in New York, like on 5th Avenue and 59th Street!)
I'm submitting my phd dissertation today! No more thesis writing:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Awesome, squishy. Do they still serve scorpion bowls at the Hong Kong restaurant in Cambridge? That was always our go-to first point for celebrating. Of course that was a long, long time ago.
We Are Cartographers: host-pathogen interactions and the immune system chicagoliz: thanks, congrats to you too! And yes, they most certainly do.
Hooray, my son worked on a Melanoma study in college and the paper was published. His name is listed as one of the researchers. They even paid him at the time he did the work. I'm so proud.
That's awesome!!! I'm just in a really good mood. I feel very giggly. I don't know why for certain but I am happy about it. I've been kinda down the past few days. So this is a welcome change.
squishytheduck, chicagoliz, congrats for the academic endeavors and achievements in your lives^^ TerraIncognita, that's awesome happiness is contagious and often when I read of other people's happiness, I myself find myself in a better mood. Now I'm extra happy because 1) T and I are catsitting, and the cat's the cutest, sweetest little bittle kitty cat ever and keeps us on such a good mood 2) T and I also got some more writing done yesterday for our WIP and felt really good about the scene we wrote
Oh, I need to clarify -- I don't have a Ph.D. I just have a J.D. I had three very fun years in Boston, though. Awesome that you guys got some good writing done, K&T. Cats can be really awesome. We had the best one a few years ago.
Survived my colonoscopy with just one small polyp. That makes six straight years I've had something for them to get (and, as an added bonus, the need to go next year). For any 50+ members, it ain't fun, but a colonoscopy can save you a lot of suffering later on. It's a sobering thought to realize that without them, I'd be heading toward full-fledged colon cancer - not a pleasant way to go.
