Lucky. I've always wanted to live by the ocean. I just looked it up, and the Isle of Wight seems like an amazing place to live. Some of the images on Google are absolutely amazing. I hope you enjoy it!
Happy because it's great summer weather here, and it brings back some lovely memories. Other happies: - I make good bread. Sounds weird to say, I know, but I'm proud of it! It takes quite a bit of time, but in the end it's worth it. - While I don't usually wear a lot of makeup, I do occasionally like some lipstick. I've recently found the most awesome lipstain, which is great because it looks more natural and lasts longer. Awesomeness.
No worries Jazz, I'm sure your hubby will put the boat on auto-pilot and massage your back as you sail up and down the Solent
@Lydia : Wow, cool. I can't make bread to save my life, but I can make pretty mean apple-cinnamon-stevia-oat cookies. Granted, the resemblance is closer to an asteroid than a factory-made, flat and perfectly round thing we generally associate with the shape of a cookie, but it's the taste that counts, right? Anyhow, I'm happy right now 'cause my father called me yesterday. He... proactively... called me, which he does about 2-3 times a year at best, and it's always one of those moments I'm so happy I don't know whether to laugh or cry. What makes me even happier is that he's become excited about sports and diet again and reduced his beer consumption (which might, unfortunately, reduce his productivity in poetry, but oh well), prompted by the looming 60th birthday -- albeit it's still 10 months away.
Well, I've been working on my book for a year, and had an ending, but this morning I had an epiphany. A completely new ending, even more perfect than the last! I'm on the roll this week. @KaTrian: That's really nice, although, having a father with issues myself, I hope he can appreciate your happiness @Lydia: Making bread from scratch is indeed impressive. And tasty. When I move to my new house, I promised myself I'll start a batch of poolish and attempt a sourdough. I adore sourdough, and it's so difficult to find a good one in the shops.
That's great, congrats! I love epiphanies, and that feeling when all the pieces of the story just seem to fall in place, suddenly everything makes sense. It's awesome. I'm sorry to hear that. My dad is awesome, but he's also kind of... reclusive. Not very talkative. He also puts his rather eccentric wife before his kids. Oh well, in a way I understand that, so I'd rather rejoice over the crumbs of good than focus on the loaves of bad.
I found the impossible to find type of croton I like at a nursery in Aguadilla. I can now continue the hedgerow along the driveway.
@KaTrian: Aw, he is lucky to have you And you are right to think positive. @Wreybies: Hurrah! I love hedges. My absolute favourite is holly, interspersed with wild roses. And an occasional bramble, just to keep it real
@KaTrian : Yeah, I wasn't always great (well I'm not "great" now either) at it. You have to go through some failures first before you get it right. And cookies are awesome, no matter what shape. Those sound particularly delicious! @jazzabel : My family's been baking bread for as long as I remember, so I guess that helps. Sourdough is great! And it's true, you don't find too many good ones. Hmm, now I feel like eating and I'm supposed to be in bed! Shared a recording of mine with a friend today, and he said I sounded like Allison Krauss, which is nice, because she's a great singer. I wish I could sing as good as her, though.
I'm happy, because I'll be moving to Norwich, Norfolk next week to study there. Finally, I'll be able to bother some Brits for a change.
Yay! I have my mouse control back. They took the really stupid huge cast-called-a-splint off and I only have a tiny splint on my finger. Not so good, I see the surgeon tomorrow and they operate Thursday. But better than nothing, I have 4 weeks in a cast that should be smaller than the one I had for the weekend and I can probably still do my job (which is critical because my busy season starts in October).
Big happies today, because I finally got my new glasses! I'd been surviving for years with a pathetic, horrible pair of glasses with progressive lenses (which I HATE). And my prescription is weird: I'm nearsighted in my left eye and farsighted in my right. Ugh. I finally got a good pair of reading glasses and a good pair of driving glasses. Come on, world! I'm ready for you now!
I had a wonderful chat with a 92-year-old woman on the bus today. She was telling me how she uses the bus a lot since she has no car and no family to take care of her. Still, she seemed like a very happy person. She had a very positive attitude and was full of life. You guys have no idea how happy that made me.
