Today I'm happy because I had a good day despite the gloomy weather we had here in southern Maine today.

It's good to know that I can be happy even when the weather isn't sunny and pleasant.

I spent the morning toddler minding, sprawled out on the floor playing with his toy dinosaurs, and when my daughter got back, she told me she'd passed her driving theory test. Not a bad morning at all.

I'm happy today, in part, because I had, at a local diner, cream of tomato soup. It was real tasty, and had big chunks of tomato in it.

I took my splint off and started bending my repaired finger. But OMG it's going to take forever before it bends normally again.

I'm really happy! :D I've just been invited back to do an MA in English Literature at my home University. :D I've even been told it 'makes sense' I go 'straight onto PhD'. :) Even if I don't do it, the thought really brightened my mood. :)

After doing an MA (which it's looking like I'll be able to pay for next year) I would have to apply to a University for funding and a position as a junior lecturer, and then work at the university while I study for the doctorate. It's doable, it's been done plenty times before. Still early days, but I would absolutely love to teach at university level. It's my aim.

I'm extremely happy that I was able to take my best friend and huge crush out on a date to Seaport village! I tried to plan it out like a movie, where "unexpected things happen but turn out for the best". Well, things didn't go in the planned direction, yet it was still amazing. I met up with her at Rite Aid with a rose and asked her to "join me in a night out!" (was that a little corny?) We made it to the Village and walked around to some nifty stores that I thought she would love, where she got a mug specifically for ice cream! (Weird right?) At 7, we were supposed to make it to the Ferry sailing to Coronado Island, but we overwalked, got a free ride back by a nice bike-taxi driver person, but missed it just as it was taking off.

I had reservations at 7:30 for 3 different restaurants, where I would find out what she was craving, and nonchalantly walk up to the hostess and be like, "Reservation for two under Ray, please?" in a James-Bond-Type-of-Way-all-suave-like. Well, didn't really go according to plan, but we made it to the Italian choice, since she was craving pasta, and we were still able to make it under the grace period.

We had dinner outside at 8:00, right in front of the fireplace overlooking DownTown San Diego across the sea under the bright moonlight. Nice and toasty, and the "raw beef with lemon" appetizer wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Then the server came by with a free dessert for her birthday (Thank GOODNESS there was no restaurant type of singing), as I said we were celebrating a late birthday, and she set down a plate of chocolate mousse sponge cake filled with fresh raspberries inside, and next to it a small box that I asked the server to deliver. She opened it up and found a necklace with a ring around it.

The ring had the words "I wish..." engraved in the front, and inside other things that I'm a little shy about posting on here. She loved it, and we spent the last few hours together watching Gravity, which is a GREAT movie by the way. Especially considering it being mostly shots of Sandra Bullock without much music. Anyways, she knows how I feel about her now, and although we aren't dating yet, I'm happy to have her in my crazy life and to be able to do something like this.

I went to my high school teacher last week to get her opinion on a short story I wrote.

She e-mailed me yesterday, saying she really likes the style and if I could send her more stories. She would also like to meet and discuss them. So yea, I'm happy, things are maybe heading somewhere:D

I'm watching Ouran High School Host Club! Words cannot describe the level of awesomeness it is.

And it's dubbed. Dubbed. I can now listen to Tamaki Suoh's voice in english.
