I'm happy that the internet is working, the power is back on, and I have a woodstove and a full woodpile... I'm in Illinois and it's blizzarding right now.
I may be weird, but I think power outages are fun, esp. when it's dark. You can turn on a flashlight and read horror stories or something. Does a blizzard mean you get the day off work? I live in Florida, so the worst we get is sleety, rainy 30-degree weather in the wintertime. I mean, if it's got to be cold, I'd like some snow to show for it, you know? Although I'll admit our crazy thunderstorms are pretty cool.
^Dude, I love power outages! Growing up, it was always kind of like a little mini holiday. Hanging out with blankets and flashlights to watch the storm and play board games...good times. Joel and I just went out to dinner for our one year anniversary.
Today was extraordinarily stressful (it doesn't compare with yesterday, but it was still stressful), but I'm posting in the happy thread because it has ended wonderfully. I was talking to Keedy on facebook chat when my brother asked me if I would take him to the civic center (a local gym/rec center). I asked Keedy if she wanted to go with me, and she said yes. We spent an hour and a half just walking and talking and venting and just being friends.
I'm happy I found this forum and this thread And that I got an A on my Linguistics test! Especially since I totally winged it Hmm, what else? I'm happy to report that things are generally looking up for me after a really long trek through some really foul weather...
^Glad things seem better for you. I'll have to trek tomorrow through this nasty weather. But I do have Thursday off I'm very happy about that!
♫ Morning classes caaaaanceled, la-la la-la laaaaahhh! ♫ Now if only my AI would cancel my night lab discussion. Something tells me she will. Hahah... now I can enjoy a very relaxed morning in bed! ...And then I should catch up on the work that I am already behind on. Snow days rock!
My little sister was sitting next to me on the couch today when she suddenly asked me: "How are you going to kiss your husband?" Me:"Uh..." Her: "Are you going to be a vacuum cleaner?" (fyi: a vacuum cleaner is a person that kisses another one passionately. So that kissing is described by her as vacuum cleaning) Me (slightly overwhelmed): "Um... I don't know..." Her: "Imagine your husband kisses you like that! So gross... those lips sliding over each other..." *shivers* *looks at her doll* Her:"Why can't people just kiss each other like this?" *hits doll's face hard against her mouth- then looks pretty upset because it hurt*
Cyclone Yasi broke land almost 8 hours ago, it's dropped from a Cat 5, to a 3. So far, looks like no deaths. Still early in the morning, so the damage is yet to be seen, but it appears at this stage, Queensland has escaped the worse.
Aww, how cute. You know, I never seriously thought of that either! I would have been stumped as to what to say too I'm happy because I have the day off tomorrow. Eee!
On February 18th, my brother and his wife are going to drive up to Vegas and stay the night at our apartment. Saturday, Joel and I are taking them to a bout (exciting! With the exception of my sister, who is joining an AZ derby league this month, none of my family has ever seen a derby bout before), and then Sunday morning we're driving down to California to go on a cruise to Cabo San Lucas as a joint celebration of our anniversaries. Then, the day we get back, we're going to Knott's Berry Farm before driving back to Vegas. Very excited for all of this to happen.
Sounds wonderful. Hope you have a great time. I'm happy because it looks like at least one person from the forum I've been looking at, is actually enjoying Samhane! yay! I think it will boost Dan's self esteem as a writer up a bit. It must suck to be a writer when you see so much criticism about something you spent a heck of a lot of time writing and 4 years waiting for it to come out in print. I guess the main thing is, that if one person buys it and enjoys it, that's all that matters.
Thanks, Tor. It kind of stinks that so many people are down on his book for it being too horror-ish. :/ Isn't that a good thing??
I've just eatern the most delicious Brussel sprouts. Feeling adventurous (lazy) - as a Briton, doing anything other than boiling vegetables to within an inch of their lives is regarded with suspicion - I roasted them (and naturally burnt them). Anyhoo, a taste sensation!
^ I think Brussels sprouts are pretty good... but that may be because I'm Belgian. I'm happy because I've been cleaning up. At least now I won't have to say I did nothing today!
ooh i love Brussel Sprouts, they are fantastic stir fried or grated in a coleslaw - yummy, yummy, yummy lol I quite like them barely boiled as well.
Recently got Minecraft and been having fun with it. Of course after I figured out that the compass is actually useful... yay no more getting lost!! and I after what felt like forever I finally got the stupid Nether portal to work. I kept messing up and had to destroy the damn blocks which took forever but I finally got it. Oh the simple things that amuse me, even if its at my own expense.
I'm eating applesauce with popcorn (yeah, put the popcorn in the applesauce) and just nearly choked laughing at what my sister said. I like to laugh.
